Alright, how is this for weird?

So today I wanted to blog about what I wore to work last Sunday, so I search the name of the dress from Resort 2008. This is the result from my Google search: Look at the fifth site down from all the results (hopefully you can see it)..."Preps Rock It With Our Collars Popped"...I got my own blog as a result!! A.) I didn't think that blogger was available in google searches, but the other day I got a comment on a prom post about a fellow blogger finding my site looking for the Chellis dress (that I'm in love with), B.) I'm so excited!! I just think that is too cool! Plus I just signed up for "Google Analytics" which is a free service that gives you all kinds of updates about your website. My friend Audrey told me to sign up so I finally did after seeing all you really had to do was register your website and voila, too easy!

To continue about my work dress though, I wore my Jacqueline Ponte Knit dress from Resort last year. Every time I wear it I get more and more compliments. It is such a functional and appropriate dress that really does look good on everyone- snatch it up if you can find it (its very true to size). I paired it with a very lightweight cardigan from Target that is basically the same color green as the green stripe and I was perfectly dressed for the beautiful day downtown! We were even able to keep the door open and had some doggy visitors (one of my favorite co-workers Harriet is a HUGE dog fan so she lets all of them in and gives them a drink!) I wore my platinum Jacks for the entire 5 hour shift and survived! Prom here I come! We also sold a pair to a high school senior who was buying the Olie Printed Dress with Bows (yellow strapless, Lilly, very cute on her for graduation party/festivities!) and she agreed on their versatility and function. Yet another satisfied Platinum Jack Rogers owner! Woo hoo! It is so nice to finally have Lilly dress weather!!!

P.S. Thanks for checking in everyone! I can't believe I got 60 views in one day. As far as I can remember that's the most ever in a single day!! I'm working on following more people so I'd love to find you if I haven't already!! And and and I'm still looking for another survey-type post like my list of 25, so if you see anything fun, let me know!! They're fabulously fun posts to do!

P.S.S. I still have made no college progress. It will happen. 30 days until I have to send in a formal deposit and enroll. We shall see, my darlings!

Still Here...

Hey everyone! I can't believe how iffy I've been writing these days. It's finally starting to get nice around here!! Woo hoo! Prom is just about a month and a half away and spring is getting in gear. The boys are 6-2 and have a game tomorrow! They're still playing a little unstable-ly, but they're working on it. This is my prom dress: I am so excited to finally have it! I got it at a local Off 5th and it was $730 down to $217 and that's including tax! Seriously, though, this is THE LAST prom post until like a few days beforehand.

I'm trying to think about what I've been doing recently. Over the weekend I worked! Yay! Twice, I was scheduled to work Sunday and then was emergency scheduled for Saturday to have adequate cover for a sidewalk sale! Later Saturday night, my friend had her 18th birthday at Nano where I wore my own 18th birthday necklace. That color should remind you where it was from! I loved it and paired it with a simple black strapless dress from Old Navy of all places.

More on the college trail. (I accidentally typo-ed that as "trial" and really that's a more apt word) I've narrowed it down to Villanova University and University of South Carolina. I know, I know, they're very different and as my dad says, "you have only good choices". I'm getting a lot of pressure (not from my parents) but from other people, to go to both actually- like some people tell me Villanova and some people tell me USC. It has only been made more difficult with the good news from Villanova because I had really prepared myself to not get in, it was a stretch, you know the shotty college deal though. I got a huge scholarship to USC, to make it even harder. I can actually see myself at both colleges. I certainly have the wardrobe to match both! I'm getting pretty worn down by having to make this decision and as I learned in my A&P class, the teenage prefrontal cortex is totally not ready to handle a decision this large at its current state of maturity. (The prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain that deals with intuition, decision making, and personality, and is not fully mature until age 25. Look, you learn something new everyday!)

Also, I've taken a short break from my LP "Wink" perfume to go back to my Calvin Klein "One Summer". I've decided that if you don't own it, you must. It is fruity and summery and just makes you feel tan. Buy it!

To also kick into spring/summer, I'm not carrying my VV tote bag anymore. I way downsized to an orange (I know...orange...yikes) Herve Chapelier C701. Cute, functional, and I want to get it monogrammed.

I'm looking for another cute "game-ish" post to do, like the 25 list I did a few posts ago, so if you see anything shoot me a link or post it yourself and I'll have to copy!

I'm going to end this post with a quote for all my classmates who read my blog. It's from The Wonder Years, a show I've decided needs to start reairing episodes asap:
"That first week of high school, as I watched our class band together. I realized something about these strangers I'd just met. Strangers I hardly knew. Strangers who were just like me. We were all sharing the same feelings. The same fears, the same loneliness. We were just starting out, and there was only one direction to go. So we went - together."
So to all the Winnies, Kevins, Jacks, Waynes, and everyone else, here's to our last quarter as high school students. Let's make it the best one ever.

I am alive, I swear!

13: The unlucky number for some, the very lucky number for others. Also the number skipped in many buildings when giving their floors names. Also a number that adds up to four when you add the digits. Also the number of days since I posted last. I cannot believe it!

To the land of palm trees and cacti! Spring break, all two weeks of it, was a blast and a half! Like I've said before, my mom scheduled a trip out to Phoenix and Sedona, Arizona. My family usually takes beach vacations: Mexico, The Florida Keys, Turks & Caicos, Bethany, you get the picture. Obviously, this was a twist for the fam. We left good ole' MD bright (or actually dark) and early on Friday morning and got to AZ around 9, despite a 5 hour trip thanks to the time difference for giving us 3 extra hours! We stayed at the Arizona Grand hotel right in Phoenix, fully equipped with its own water park, called "The Oasis". It was a fabulous spot where we warmed up, got a little color, and even went for our first real spa treatments!! This is a picture of my sister, my mom and I on the "balcony" of our room! After 4 days/3 nights there, we headed our to Sedona, about two hours away from Phoenix, driving. Sedona is a very cool little cowboy town full of small shops that are Indians and cowboy themed, with leather and kokopelli goods and turquoise jewelry at every turn. There was one road in and one road out (that sometimes had a little bit of traffic!) and the town was probably no bigger than four blocks lining both sides of the road. It was so cool to see a little town sprung up in the middle of all these red rocks, like the picture at the top! That rock, as some other cool ones did, had a name: "Castle Rock". If you look at it, it is kinda fortress-shaped. Cool, huh? We even ventured out to hike too! My whole family hopped on over to "Cathedral Rock" and started our hike. This is me and Grace pretending to be trapped in one of the many vortices (pl. of vortex) that are along some hiking trails. They are believed to have healing powers and some people travel all the way to Sedona for the medicinal effects of these vortices. There were a few trail companies that even advertised "Vortex Guides" if you wanted to go on a tour that stopped at one or a few of these mysterious stops! We all kept hiking until my mom and sister got a little worried about going much higher on Cathedral Rock. My dad and I kept going as long as we were comfortable with the height and process of getting back down from where we were. There were "carins" (mesh-metal covered stacks of rocks that were sorta like a guided way to get up the mountain) that we followed as we kept climbing. We'd see one after another and kept saying "Well, its about three carins to that, let's try!" This is the view down from the highest site that my dad and I got to. We called it "the gorge" and I was a little apprehensive about taking the picture because it was a long long long long long long long long long long long way down. Its kinda tough to see the way down, and with modern zooms its hard to appreciate it, but it was pretty cool! This was only my second hike ever, so I was pretty proud of me and my dad and even that my mom and sister got as far as they did. It was a fabu outing to take, and its probably the only time I'll have ever gotten a chance to do something like this! This is everyone on the mountain, taken by some friendly fellow climbers. It was cool to see all the people on the mountain. Old people through kids younger than my sister were climbing and everyone seemed to be having a good time. There was kind of a shelf where we were when this picture was taken. It was a little scary to stand this way because with a gust of wind we lost our balance. Very cool though either way. Its cool too that we have a family picture as we conquer Cathedral rock since its usually my mom taking the pictures. What a fun trip!

I hope everyone had happy, safe spring breaks!

I believe...

So I found this quote on Monograms and Martinis in Manhattan's blog last Sunday I think and I simply love it (she probably didn't even know I was a reader!). I've been thinking about doing this since I saw it. Thank you Audrey Hepburn:
"I believe in pink. I believe that loving is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

What do I believe in like that?
1. I also believe in pink.
2. I believe in being happy.
3. I believe that the chocolate on my English teacher's desk gets me through every class.
4. I believe that a Venti Sweetened Passion Iced Tea (thank you Starbucks) can cure even the worst of days.
5. I believe that iChat provides some of the best advice sessions.
6. I believe that working out is the perfect stress reliever.
7. I believe that macs > anything else.
8. I believe in sad country music at night. And loud rap during the day.
9. I believe that driving can help you logically think out any situation (I have a long commute to school).
10. I believe that blasting music never hurt anyone. Now speakers, that's another story.
11. I believe in matching.
12. I believe that proper planning can help anyone.
13. I believe in any excuse to get dressed up.
14. I believe that sleep is overrated. That's why we have naps.
15. I believe that texting is a perfectly acceptable form of communication (yeah, tell me that when I have carpal tunnel).
16. I believe that hair straighteners work wonders.
17. I believe that you're never too old to sleep with a stuffed animal (I have frog from 3rd grade).
18. I believe that I am still a child even though I'm considered an adult.
19. I believe in all forms of takeout.
20. I believe in high school sweethearts (I have some friends who I think might be).
21. I believe that your toes should always be painted.
22. I believe in the power of...cupcakes.
23. I believe in blogging and think that my blog friends are cool.
24. I believe that the good guy always wins.
25. I (try to) believe that the glass is half full.

This was kinda fun. Try it for yourself. It needed MUCH more thought than I imagined, but it was fun to put together 25. And I picked 25 because I got past 20 and figured I could get to a good number.

My First Milestone: 50th POST!!!!!

AHHHHH HOW COOL!?!?!? #50!

Today I went spring break shopping. I went to the new Target close to my house, expecting to be blown away with great deals right and left for spring break. Yeah, not so much...? What's up with that Target?! Then my sister and I headed over to Old Navy, thinking they'd have a bunch of quick fixes that I could grab to go with me. My main order of business was to get a cute swimsuit. There was a cute seersucker bandeau online that I really liked and imagined getting. Even though I have a Lilly seersucker and plaid suit from Resort 2007 that I adore, I thought a bandeau would be fun. I was MUCH more successful there! Pink and green ga-lore baby. These were a few of the items that I snagged:
How about these shorts? Fabulous length on me because I'm tall, so I always go for medium length shorts. Well these 7' ones were perfect plus platinum jacks or my pink shoes my mom got me from a few posts ago? Plus, its really long on me, which is tough to find for tops like this. Nice!
Love this shirt. I tried it on in the store, and I'm usually a little hesitant about tube tops since I'm so flat-chested. This was cute and with appropriate undergarments, should be fine! Pair this with white shorts or my white khaki J.Crew skirt and I've got another outfit.I snagged this top too, thinking it could really go with anything. It is bright white and clean and crisp that I couldn't pass it up. Old Navy is really stepping up their game. This with a light cardigan and some cute capris and I have my probably travel outfit! For some reason, I can't find the top to this online haha so the bottoms will do. This was the suit I picked out, and its a lot cuter in person. There is a lot more pink on mine and who doesn't like pink and green paisley?!

I told you it was pink and green ga-lore. They have TONS of good deals right now at ON so check it out!!!

P.S. "Angels on the Moon" by Thriving Ivory: I thought it was a joke when I saw a commercial for them on TV, but its a great song. Totally worth a download. Also, "La La Land" by Demi Lovato. A friend showed me this, and I'm totally not a fan of all the Disney singers and stuff because my sister is a Jonas Brother addict (naturally, I cannot stand them...) but this is cute. I don't think it will make it to my top 25 listened to songs on iTunes, but its good for the time being and its a good workout song. Get "Angels on the Moon" first. Third download: "I'd Rather Be With You" by Joshua Radin, such a great little love song. The same girl who showed me the Demi Lovato song showed me this, so she has an almost respectable music taste (sorry care...).

I hope everyone's weekend was good!

Spring Break!

Hi all!

I am terribly sorry for my massive lack of correspondence. As a young Michelle Tanner on Full House would say, "How rude!" Anyway, SO much has been going on, that I have to so this big huge let's-play-catch-up post. First and foremost, I've heard back from University of South Carolina and as the Gamecock on the back of my envelope, it said "YES!" On top of that, they're offering me a nursing merit scholarship, so USC is super attractive in my house these days. I'm still waiting to hear back from a few, but I should know and probably will have made my choice by the end of the month!

The next order of business is in the VERY near future. My mother booked our spring break trip this year for our entire family to go to Arizona. I don't know the entire agenda, but I know we're staying in Sedona and making our way to the Grand Canyon one of the days. If anyone has any tips on packing, please please please let me know. I don't really know what to bring for this kind of weather. This is a completely foreign destination for my family since we're usually beach people. Yay!

Also, that Habitat for Humanity trip that I very briefly blogged about, GOT ACCEPTED. 20 classmates, 4 chaperones and I are going on a Habitat Trip to North Carolina for our big, important, Independent Senior Project in May. I captained this project, so I'm SO proud of everything that I've accomplished. Everyone is pumped about going so its gonna be AWESOME!

Another thing, lacrosse is going well. The boys are 2-1, but they've only had scrimmages so far. They are happily enjoying the cupcakes, and the mom's ooh-ing and ahh-ing and "Did YOU do ALL these YOURSELF?" is kinda fun too.

Lastly, I am DYING to track down a Lilly Pulitzer Chellis dress for my prom dress. If you happen to see one in a 2 or a 4, TELL ME! I want it in "OK Coral" and if you can't remember what it looks like this is it:
I hope everyone has fun, warm, fabulous spring breaks whenever they may be! I'll try to be better about writing! I promise!!!
