Summer 2009: What I Want

So I worked both days this weekend unloading about 7 boxes of summer shipments. The stuff is WONDERFUL! As Summer LP goes, you will NOT be disappointed. I tried a few things on and this dress is definitely my favorite: It is the Monterey Shift Classic White Buenavista. If you can't see, there are 2 thick lines of lace/rick-rack/piping running down the sides. Plus there are pockets (albeit shallow) but who doesn't love a dress with pockets. I have a feeling that post prom/graduation/etc. this will be my first major summer purchase. It runs about $258. Part of LP Summer '09 is that they tried to lower the prices. I think some of the fiasco Jubilee dresses were WAY too much, and LP corporate learned a little lesson. Some stuff is still pricey though.

This is another dress that I came upon in online shopping. Now I haven't seen it in person, but I adore it online. It has a great patchwork print that I am SO happy Lilly is bringing back. It has a line of the lace/rick-rack down the front, just like a dress from late summer/fall 2008 of last year! This is the Charity Shift Patch in Multi Hollywood Squares Patch. This print combines all/some of the celebrity designs, which is too fun! I just love the brightness that this dress has, I can't wait to see it in person! This runs at $328 (yikes!) probably since its the more "famous" of the designs.

One of the items that I unpacked a bunch of were some great printed halters. They are going to be fabu for summer and the really hot days while still looking super cute. They come in the Mommy-and-Me set as well. I unpacked the Minnies stuff also, and LP brought back the size 14. Some of you very small women are going to be so unbelievably lucky! With a great pair of white pants or white skirt, you're set! They have an adjustable neck and the prints really make the white pop. I have a feeling they're going to be very flattering on most people and really look good for a lot of scenarios! This halter is the Hillview Halter Lace in Daiquiri Pink Beverly Hills Bubbly (what a name that is...)!!

The last thing that I think I want to get, at least before I go to school, is a really nice pair of Lilly aviators. I've tried on a few pairs in the store (or every pair of sunglasses in the store) and I really like the fit, and where they sit on my face. I've also been trying to track down the Kate Spade pair that Reese Witherspoon was photographed wearing but I never seemed to find them. They had a pink bar across the top, where the sunglass frames like connect, but not like the bar over the bridge of the nose. There is a very cute pair from Lilly that's kinda like the KS ones, but have a very cute side part where they go over your ear: I am totally obsessed! I think they would be generally functional with most of the clothing in my wardrobe considering the pink matches everything I own. These are the Paley Sunglasses in Tortoise/Gold. I love them!

Happy Summer Browsing! I told you Summer 2009 was great!!

My First Polyvore!

Hi all! I decided to "polyvore" my outfit for work today. This might be my new favorite thing. Its fabulous. Anyway, since it's getting warm, like 75 and sunny, I decided to wear my Jacqueline Knit Critter dress that my parents got me for Christmas! Check out my outfit today:

Minus the kind-of-/-very-tacky butterfly Coach bracelet, this is what I wore. I couldn't find the red Coach bangle by itself anywhere. Crazy. Hopefully this works! I think it is too much fun (as long as you can find the clothes you need!!!)

Today at work, we got a TON done! Unpacked 4 boxes of Lilly Summer 2009 stuff. Let me tell you, it is adorable. There were 2 shifts in there that I want to buy and another pink dress that is awesome. Everything is super summer-y with heavy duty "lace" but really its just like heavy duty wide rick-rack. Continuing, its going to be an awesome summer line for Lilly, a great way to pick up the kind of wear Spring/Resort showing that there was in the stores. Plus, check out your own Lilly stores, Resort should be going on sale soon, if its not already. Ours is already 40% off, which is awesome because we still have a pretty major stock. Drop by and see if yours is on sale!

Definitely keep an eye out for the upcoming Summer '09 line. You will NOT be disappointed!

Stars for Lilly: A Colorful Cause

Recently, as I'm sure you've all seen in recent LP emails, ads, and other forms of communication, I'm sure you've noticed the Lilly Summer 2009 Jubilee lines made by the stars! I think this is such a fun idea for branching out! Two of my favorites were the Brooke Shields for Lilly and Elizabeth Filarski Hasselbeck (I'll always remember her as Filarksi from Survivor and The Look for Less). The Brook Shields design is too cute:Not to mention, the picture is too cute!! A very cute mommy-and-me combination for the summer. Actually, I do believe that all the lines are some sort of matching combo for older girls and younger girls, there's even a Gwyneth Paltrow swimwear set for a son too! That's the main advertisement for the actress' lines for Lilly.

Another one of my favorites was the Elizabeth Hasselbeck. She is a very preppy celebrity, seen here with the fabulous in pink Sarah Palin: What a cute preppy duo! Love both of them in their pink and green! Elizabeth's line is another darling addition to the Lilly Summer 2009 Jubilee line! I will always be partial to a pink LP anything, though! This trio is the same group/"family" that models the Gwyneth Paltrow line on the same jetty.

As People Magazine reports, Lilly is sponsoring "A Colorful Cause: Celebrity Designer Program, which honors the label’s 50th anniversary by supporting The Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation". Kudos to LP for this wonderful cause and teaming up with some fab celebrities to make these designs!

American Dreams

I was just thinking about this show this morning, and it was positively one of my favorites that ever aired on TV. I started thinking about it, in kind of a crazy way, because we're watching Apocalypse Now (about the Vietnam War, after reading Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad) and I was trying to remember the TV show I watched every Sunday that dealt with the Vietnam War. I am so disappointed that it ever stopped. This is a clip of Stacie Orrico performing on American Bandstand, the show the Meg Pryor the show's main character, danced on:

It was such a great show because it incorporated all kinds of new acts/singers into the show. And it featured clips of both Dick Clark as well as the original performers FROM THE REAL BANDSTAND. Stacie Orrico, a popular singer at the time of the show's airing, was singing "My Boyfriend's Back" when clearly she is not the original singer. I looked up to see the availability of the seasons on DVD, and only season 1 is available. The "American Dreams" Fan Club is petitioning NBC to release the other 2 seasons (2 and 3) for purchase. Only the CD of the first season is out, and I'm probably going to buy it from NBC soon. It has all the "current" singers performing the oldies tunes that they were portraying on the show. Plus it had a great opening song.

The basic idea of the show was about the Pryor family: Mr., Mrs., JJ, Meg (Brittany Snow- and now she's FAMOUS!), Patty, and the little brother who's name is escaping me. Mr. Pryor was a former-enlisted Navy man and TV salesmen and Mrs. Pryor was a travel agent, I think. JJ was the star football player at East Catholic High who then was drafted to go to Vietnam (and dies or goes MIA or they think he dies or something, sorry plot spolier- I remember bawling my eyes out in that episode), despite all his efforts to not go. (He had many conflicts with this decision as the family was Catholic, he wanted to go to Lehigh to play football, and he didn't want to leave his girlfriend Beth). Meg was a high school girl at East Catholic with her best friend Roxanne who got in trouble 24/7. Both girls danced on American Bandstand afterschool. Meg was a super anti-war protestor and in one episode managed to turn Shakespeare's Henry V (I think that was the play) into a war protest. Patty was the annoying smart Pryor who didn't have many friends and the little brother was the youngest and he had Polio (his name is Will, I had to look it up!) so always walked with braces.

Among the Vietnam War and Bandstand, the show also shows the Philadelphia race riots (that's where the show was located), and one of Meg's best friends (who she TOTALLY should have dated) was a black classmate named Sam. Sam's brother managed to use his religion to get him out of serving in Vietnam, and it comes back to haunt him. Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff, Fefe Dobson, Blake Shelton, and Gavin DeGraw were all some of the performers who were on the show.

Thought I'd share because I know most people liked (or love...like I do) this show! If anyone knows if its still airing on some other non-NBC channel, tell me!!

Music Post- Why Not?

So I'm inventing a post. I want everyone to try it! Show off your taste (or lack of) in music with this fun post. Put your iTunes or your music player of choice on Random/Shuffle/Party Shuffle and list the first 25ish or so songs up here (Title and Artist!) and see what people think of your music taste! Select five (or more) of your songs that you feel your music library would be incomplete without!

Note: this is from my mac computer, so I have a relatively small music collection, and you'll notice a lot of it is pretty new music. If it was on my old big computer it would have tons more funny/reminiscent ones!

1. I Can't Be Your Friend: Rushlow (Classy in Philadelphia, you'll love this for your boy problemssss!)
2. That Summer: Garth Brooks (he's my #1 favorite artist ever!) Must-have song 1 of 5.
3. Go Getta: Young Jeezy
4. Hypnotize: Notorious B.I.G.
5. Taylor the Latte Boy: Kristen Chenoweth
6. I'm Movin' On: Rascal Flatts- Must-have song 2 of 5
7. The Way I Loved You: Taylor Swift (if you're going to download 1 TS song in your life this is a cute one)
8. Energy: Keri Hilson (fabulous workout song and good to have)
9. Change: Taylor Swift
10. Say Yea: Wiz Khalifa (apparently I like all the rappers who have made ZERO impact on the rap world...cool, Katie)
11. Happily Ever After: Nicole Scherzinger (I first heard this on Gossip Girl, for all you GG lovers out there)
12. Calabria [Remix]: Enur and Mims
13. My Life Would Suck Without You: Kelly Clarkson
14. Nuttin No Go So: Natch- Must-have download 3 of 5 (we play this all the time in the Lilly store, be sure to google the lyrics-inappropriate but hilarious)
15. Lucky: Jason Mraz feat. Colbie Calliat
16. Bless the Broken Road: Rascal Flatts
17. Angels on the Moon: Thriving Ivory
18. One in a Million: Bosson (anyone remember the scene in Ms. Congeniality where they're all dressed up at Statues of Liberties-when you wanted to be one of them-and dancing...oh yeah, this song)
19. Sugar: Flo Rida (this starts out like the Eiffel 45 song "Blue")
20. The Way You Look Tonight: Frank Sinatra- Must-have 4 of 5 (please flashback to the end scene in "My Best Friend's Wedding" when Jules gives 'her song' to Michael and Kimberly. Makes me cry everytime and this is their song.)
21. Tarzan and Jane: Toybox (woo I'm a little ashamed of this...people from school will know why...thank you lacrosse team as a boy in my stats class reminded me)
22. More than a Memory: Garth Brooks
23. Underneath the Stars: Kate Rusby (download her entire CD, she's adorable. When I am by myself in the car I can't help but burst out in song to be like her.)
24. I Told You So: Carrie Underwood feat. Randy Travis- Must-have 5 of 5 (they just performed this on American Idol, nearly brought me to tears. Its my new obsession song. This is them on American Idol, with Grand Ole Opry Mic's.)
25. Gotta Tell You: Samantha Mumba (she's Irish, you'd never believe it. I think I have this song on the computer from my Now 4 CD.

This is fun. Its like making a virtual CD for someone! Enjoy!

Such an Exciting Day!!!

First OoB (Order of Business): I got my first blog tag today! Thanks to The Tale of a Southern Belle, I was tagged! I couldn't be more excited!! There are few things that make me more excited than people liking what I write. I can't believe it! Yay!

Second of all, I've recently been having self-induced phone problems. Yuck. Like two weeks ago I accidentally dropped my phone in a cup of apple juice in the car. (I gave up soda and it was from my way to school, so yes, I did in fact have a cup of apple juice in my car). The cup holder is right next to this little spot in my civic where my phone sits perfectly. Well, with the slip of a hand, there went my phone...then I picked it right up, fast fast! We (there were two other girls in the car) dried it off, and then not knowing cardinal rule numero uno of phone wetness (fyi that rule is keep all parts separate and dry battery face up and phone body face down), kept all the parts together. Well, little did I know any wetness in your phone can lead to short circuiting even if you dry the surface off. Well, today I went to the BestBuy Mobile store to get all my contacts converted to of of my friend's old phones. On my way back to the car, the bag display at Nordstrom's struck me. First in the little window was a patent yellow/straw Kate Spade bag we have at the store, so I was immediately excited! Then I looked over to one of the other racks and saw these Dooney and Bourke bags: How cute are these?! On top of their adorable-ness, they are only $135 for full size D&B bags! In looking on the website to find these pictures, they also have a fabulous seersucker bag too! Post prom, my budget will definitely have to find room for one of these puppies. This is called the "Victoria Bag" and I think it is my favorite shape. It comes in 22 color combinations so there is certainly one to match your wardrobe needs. I just love these bags! They were enough to make me go out of my walking-to-the-car path to look at them up close and inquire about the price. Check them out asap, they're good for a preppy closet!

Thanks for the tag!
