"Goin' to the Chapel of Love...Because We're Goin' to the Chapel and We're Gonna Get MA-AH-AH-RRIED"

Big news! So my mother got a fabulous new (potential, but its basically in the bag unofficially) job working for a wedding planner who works downtown! SO excited!!!! She and this wedding planner hit it off when my mom went to her "interview" after seeing an ad on Craig's List (I think, sorry mom if this is untrue...). After talking to the WP herself, she offered my sister and I jobs as grunt workers at weddings!!!!!!!!!!!! Our duties may be, but are not limited to, being greeters, hanging out programs, lugging boxes, moving stuff, helping the bride, being the designated "bridal first aid kit" girl, waiting on the bride, waiting on the wedding party, holding the bride's dress for miscellaneous reasons, organizing things, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera

I AM SO EXCITED! What a perfect opportunity to wear my less formal Lilly's in a fabulous environment that are always (hopefully) full of happiness on wedding days! My sister and I could NOT stop talking about it last night at dinner and my mom seemed super excited. I've been thinking about it all day long, and blogging from school, which is a rare opportunity. I'm in my independent study journalism class, so I'm taking the time to do some (as its technically called) web journalism. After all, I am blogging from that class last year!

I cannot wait to give you all some more details about all this wedding stuff. It is going to be so much fun, and what girl hasn't started planning her wedding? Here's my chance to go through it weekend after weekend after weekend!

Katie's Worrying About Prom (again...)

Shallow, yes, I know and I'm sorry, but all of a sudden, people are all talking about prom! A lot of you bloggers have real stories that are adorable, heartwarming, some are about kids, but I'm only in high school. Yeah, very trivial, but I am a planner and I would much rather have m dress in advance than down to the wire. Last year I had my Lilly picked out in August when the style book came to the store. May 15th is the big day, and just dress drama is beginning to circulate. No dates yet, but I will keep you updated for sure! Anyway, I decided that most of the dresses that I posted the other day were generally wrong (except I'm going to post one of them again, it made the most recent cut). This time, I like a lot more of the ones I'm posting as in there's much less wrong with them than the the last time I posted it. Also, this is the first time that my mom is realizing that I'm thinking about prom and that I even have dress ideas, hi mom! I NEED HONEST FEEDBACK (aka tell me if they're ugly please!!!!!!!)
Option one: black, chic, very long (yay!), gorgeous. A girl had this dress last year and looked SO pretty, but hers was in coral. Anyway I like this a lot.
Option two: black (I swear they're not all black!!!!), skinny, sleek, potentially hard to walk in, again very long, and the back is cool, its like an X I like it too! *Cool fact: she's an ex-Lilly model, recognize her from the Resort 2008 shoot?!
Option three: green, Milly (on sale!!), potentially too casual (I need feedback on appropriate-ness guys!), very pretty at least online, I like it, maybe not long enough?
Option four: probably my favorite so far!!!!! pink, conservative, paisley, very long, lightly sequined at the top, keyhole neckline, and I can wear my platinum Jacks underneath.Option five: the sole survivor from last time (see "Older Posts").

Option six: not pictured, Lilly Chellis Dress in "OK Coral" if I can find it. Ebay, Craig's List, in some store, IF YOU CAN FIND IT TELL ME! I LOVE THIS DRESS and I would love to wear it to prom, but it is SO unbelievably hard to find so its wishful thinking on my part.

Anyway, I hope that you guys post please because I can't choose and there's a good chance that I may not even be wearing any of these. That makes me think of another idea, if you have any other cute, affordable, classy ideas for my dress, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me!!!! I would love some input everyone!! Have a good week everyone!

Baltimore Auto Show!!!

Last Saturday (yes, Valentine's, but that's an entirely different story thanks to La's boyfriend's impromptu ski trip), my friend La and I went to our first car show. Talk about impressed! We had such a fun time seeing all the cars that we couldn't really afford. What am I saying, we can't afford them. We started out driving up to the convention center and our "journey" started. The place was carpeted with like road carpet, so cute! The groups were organized by maker (VW, Volvo, Dodge, Acura, Infinity, Lexus, etc.). We set out first to the Dodge Challenger (?) I think it was called. La's boyfriend, Van, wants it I believe she told me. We took tons of pictures, and surprisingly, people didn't give us funny looks (or at least the funny looks weren't for taking pictures). It was such like a myspace-y thing to do, but they're hilarious. We both found our DREAM cars, but so did everyone else there. This was hers:
Lexus RX 330, silver (but she wants it in like Cherry Red)
This is mine:Acura MDX, very shiny Black.
We were car hopping in just about every maker that there was. We loved a BMW gold convertible with a backseat that your pet hamster couldn't fit in comfortably. Another time, we got into a gold Cadillac Escalade, when one of the car shoppers asked us "Now, girls, why are you in this car? Can you really buy one?" I had no idea what to say. La to the rescue, "Oh yes sir. Can we get you one too?" He responds "Girl, can I get you number to let you know?!" What started out as a semi-awkward interaction turned into something that I laugh at looking back on!! Before that exchange, we got to the Mini Cooper section. That was fun. On my way to the Deb ball, I rode in a Mini, and found that it was pleasantly roomy especially for 6'0'' tall me. We found one that had French doors opening its trunk, and so we decided to do this:
People started laughing at us for this one too. I was SO squished in there. Like, the roof cuts off sorta right above my eye, but that was where the actual roof began. You think I'm like bending but really, it was a struggle to get all of me in there!! What a darling car though! It was super cute! We had such a fun time looking at all the cars and doing some secret people watching!

OH SHIFT!

Alright, so everyone's pretty aware of the "Oh Shift!" Lilly Christmas ornaments. Well, first, I would like to point out (Amanda C. Bee, correct me if I'm wrong) that a local signature store close to me is the inspiration. In the old store, at Christmas time and sometimes if the tags were on hand, shift-dress-package-tags were included on wrapped gifts. They were like tags that you could write to/from on that were Lilly prints, printed out on regular like computer paper and then cut out. After wrapping and bow-ing a gift, they were included where the ribbon crosses on the gift where the bow is tied (its important to point out that I adore gift-wrapping, its what I do when I work). Continuing, Lilly is putting out stationary, if you didn't know. They're putting out notecards, paper, party supplies (napkins, plates, invites, etc.), invites, thank-you notes, pens, paper, you know the deal. This is an example of some of it:

How cute?! Well, I am dreaming (and maybe this is a stretch) that these DARLING cards were also store-inspired. They've got to be correlated with the ornaments, which are related to our store, so by the transitive property (who knew that geometry would be important later in life?) they are related to the store!!!!! Again, I'll admit that this is probably a stretch, but I can be proud of the store! Either way, they are super cute and I love them!! I can't wait to get my hands on some!!

Spring is on its Way!

So there are a few tell-tale (is that the phrase?) signs that spring is on its way: warmer weather, brighter colors, longer days, greener grass, April showers, you know the deal. Well, in every single county in Maryland, lacrosse season is beginning. And I love it! As I've mentioned before, I am NOT a lacrosse player. I used to be, until I hit high school when things got way too competitive for my likings. I manage the boy's team for my school, which is a blast. My sophomore year I "worked" for the JV team learning the ropes, stats, and other general information about boy's lacrosse. Then my junior year, I moved up to the varsity squad, with a year under my belt. This year, I'm still working for varsity and the tryouts started today!

The boys had their fitness test today, meaning that by the time they get home, if they are still standing, they're in good shape. I was talking to a few of the players today who were hesitantly talking about the 6 miles worth of sprints that they're going to do today, among all the push-ups, timed miles, and other various physical fitness activities. WOW, this is why I manage. The coaches are a really fun group of men that I've gotten to know really over the season. One is a famous JHU ex-player, another (who I've known for awhile) is an ex-UMD player who has had his sons play there, and the third is an ex-Wesleyan player. They all get along, demand a lot from their team, and do know what they're doing.

These boys are my biggest cupcake fans. I earned the name "cupcake queen" on my spirit week shirt, and I'm sure they were some of my biggest supporters for my winning the superlative "most likely to be the next Martha Stewart" in my yearbook! (Clearly, I couldn't be prouder!) They have about 2 or 3 games each week, and I bake 2 boxes of Funfetti cupcakes (yielding ~50) for their last game of each week! Their first scrimmage is just over 2 hours away from our school, and it's not even a game!! I can't believe sometimes how serious this game gets, but some of these boys have committed to college to play, which gives them total bragging rights!!

I can't wait for the season to officially start on the 28th (brrrr!) for the first game! It should be very (cold) fun! I will be sure to keep everyone updated on how the season progresses! Go Admirals!!

Groundhog Schmoundhog

So, whatever groundhog result means more winter was apparently what we got, but let me tell you, that ground hog was pretty incorrect. Now, I hope I'm not jinxing the weather, but it has been SO unbelievably nice here! As the weather people say, it has been "unseasonably warm" recently and I love it! It makes me so so so excited for spring break and lacrosse season! The other day, we had a "free dress" day at school, meaning we can wear whatever we want and you pay a dollar for it. Usually there's a fundraiser behind it, but some weeks the money just goes to student council. Anyway, I was able to wear my new black Jacks to school and they were fahhhhbulous! I love them!!!!!

My mom finalized our spring break plans, and I have to be here one of our two weeks because the boys have like 80 games (just kidding!) that I have to statizize (I'm the stats girl). I think they have 3 or 4 games and then they head down to Atlanta, GA, for some warm training. When they go there, my family and I are heading to Arizona! I can't wait! It is going to be so much fun. We're staying at this resort that's like a water park and has all this cool stuff and then one day we're going to the Grand Canyon. I've never been West before and my parents got really excited about it too! Then when I get home, we start school a few days later and the season picks right back up where it left off!

There is so much going on right now that I have to write about. Last night, with my friend Caroline, I saw He's Just Not That Into You. Oh my goodness! It is so cute! you must go see it! The cast is fabulous and I don't care what the critics say, but it is great! There is a huge Love Actually vibe because (without spoiling) there are a bunch of couples that the movie follows, but the couples never like interact with each other (I'm pretty sure...minus like 2 couples). Anywho, it is adorable and a must-see!!

Also, today I got a new pair of running shoes! I love them! They are bright blue, white, and turquoise! I have gotten into working out at least 3 times a week since cross country ended and I lift and do cardio each day. I actually am seeing results and my dad seems to be pretty proud of me! He says now that I've gotten carrots (poking fun at my muscle size) I have to look forward to getting sweet potatoes!

I'm sorry that I haven't really been writing too much, but school is just nuts! I've been at college after college every weekend and have yet to make a decision, and I won't really know until about mid-March. I will be sure to keep everyone posted!

Happy Valentine's Day Eve!

Playing Catch-Up

Hey everyone! I feel terrible for not posting for SO long, I kind of can't believe it!! I have been super busy with college festivities, statistics tests, biology experiments, and the like. It is crazy!! Anyway, I will be posting for real ASAP. I swear! Lacrosse season is right around the corner (which will make for fun blogging) and I will be even busier, but I promise promise promise that blogs are on their way!!!

Just very quickly, check out your closest Old Navy very soon! My mom got me these fabulous shoes in a perfect pink! They go with like 99% of the Lilly I own. They come in Pink, Green, Navy, Yellow, White, Sliver, Brown, and Black. Snag a pair for yourself and they run true to size.
Sorry I'm so brief, all! More is on the way!
