No joke this is our workout facility: The Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center. "The Strom" is about a half-hour walk from my dorm so when I go I have to be extremely motivated. I've decided that I'm going to take advantage of living on the 14th floor of a 16 floor building by doing the stairs. I say doing because there is no way I'm in shape enough to run them. Today I did two sets of the stairs and I was able to jog up the first half both times which I'm pretty proud of. After the sets I did 100 calf raisers to see what that might do! I'm feeling pretty excited about this workout and to see what my maximum rep's of stair sets will be. My goal is to add a set every day, but that might be tough. I've downloaded a bunch of great workout music and did my sets for today. I wrote everything down and I'm going to try to stay with it!
What do you guys do to keep in shape? Any ideas or suggestions for me would be greatly appreciated!! I hope everyone is getting excited for Thanksgiving!!

My jaw literally dropped when I saw your gym! You are so, so lucky.
Good job with deciding to get fit!! I think the stairs will be an awesome work out for you. I used to only live on the 4th floor when I was in dorms, but I made sure to take the stairs every time I left/entered, because it all adds up.
My advice would be to track your progress on your blog! It will keep you feeling accountable to not slack off, and in the end it will be cool to look back and see how much progress you've made. :)
Have a great day!!
what a nice gym!
30 minutes is so far. I think you're really smart to just use the stairs. I feel like I've gained a little just since fall break, but I didn't gain any from the start of school to fall break. I'm sure it doesn't actually look like you've gained anything. Have a great 2 weeks before Thanksgiving!

What a gorgeous gym, but goodness, it's kind of a workout just to get over there! I am terrible about being motivated, but I must get in shape asap! I've been doing Wii fitness games, but I want the Dallas Cowboy's Cheerleaders DVD workouts. I've heard really good things about them and they look like a lot of fun.
I feel like a hypocrite writing anything at all because I don't do anything physically healthy for myself BUT... I feel like whenever I READ articles about finding ways to stay fit they always mention the small things - like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking farther away from your destination and walking or don't drive at all on short trips and ride your bike. Every little bit counts to making a more fit you!
Good luck & I like the idea of blog accountability & documenting how far you've come -that can always be an encouragement!

What a gym! If the weather is still nice I recommend walking to the pool and then swimming. That would be a great workout!
Your gym is spectacular! Can you use that court all year round?
JEALOUS!
I track my fitness on either SparkPeople (which isn't ideal for tracking fitness, but it's GREAT for tracking calories) or simply on my calendar. I like to look back and see how many days of the month I've worked out!
