Spring Playlist

So as the weather gets beautiful and we're all driving with our windows down, you must have a good playlist full of songs you can BLAST and rock out to! I mean, I don't think I'm alone, but I love doing that when the weather is nice. Taking drives to different places is one of my favorite things to do to get some alone time or have conversations with fab people. (Oh, totally unrelated note--a girl in my biology lab made my day today telling me she was reading and I was like AHH YOU ARE SO SWEET and told her how much it meant to me. Her boyf is currently deployed, so please keep Nathan in your prayers!)

My playlist would have something like this on it (in no particular order, as I am scanning my iTunes as I write):

1. American Honey by Lady Antebellum: I am loving me some Lady A these days. This song is great and totally has a summery vibe.

2. Solo by lyaz: I really like songs that have a lot of fake sounds in the background (if you ask my sister about my taste of music she'll laugh because she hates it so much.) and so I like autotune. I don't care if it means the singer isn't a good one, I like the effects it has as well as a big, huge, booming bass so my little tiny civic booms!

3. Big Green Tractor by Jason Aldean: This song never gets old. I think it is so sweet and it makes me want to know a farmer like him and take a tractor ride right at sunset wearing a dress! I mean, Jason Aldean just has the smoothest voice and I would take him up on his tractor ride anyday!  Just listening to him makes me feel summery and here he is live:

4. Ice Cream Paint Job by Dorrough: My friend and future roomie Megan rocks out to this song so when I think of driving this always comes up! It always starts out with me being like "EEEEYYYY BUDDAY ROLLIN LIKE A BIGSHOT" and she finishes it up with "Chevy tuned up like a NASCAR PITSTOP" whenever we drive!

5. Why Don't We Just Dance by Josh Turner: I tend to listen to a lot of country during the summer. I love this song and I've seen Josh Turner in person and man can that boy sing! He is so cute and a great current singer! I want to learn how to shag (still...) so that I can shag to this song. It seems like a perfect shagging song and it's about dancing anyway!!

6. Something to Lose by Corey Smith: This is one of two (very) newly discovered Corey songs. I love this one and "When the Sun Goes Down in Ga". His guitar strumming is so fun and light-hearted which is the best vibe for summer. He's coming to play twice this summer at concerts close to me, so I really want to go see him at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC!

7. Hey Daddy by Usher: I'm sure I've talked about this song before but it is my current favorite, so if I'm gonna rock out to anything, it will be this! My friend Aly texted me earlier this morning saying, "Hardcore rockin out to your song right now babygirl!" and I was like "Ahh wish I was there with you!!" because when the two of us hear this song it's CRAZY!

8. It's My Life/Confessions Pt. 2 Remix by the Cast of Glee: The mashups episode of Glee if my favorite episode of the whole first season. When Artie sings "Just when I thought I say all I could say my chick on the side says she got one on the way!" because it is so ironic compared to his character! When they are singing on the show, I die when it flashes to goofball Artie singing that line.

9. Your Love is My Drug by Ke$ha: This song is well loved by both my sister and I. We are Ke$ha fans and this is our new favorite. I know we'll be making some trips over the summer and this will be played I'm sure!

10. Baby by Justin Bieber featuring Ludacris: I have Bieber Fever. I will openly admit it and I think he is adorable! I don't care what people think of JB, but he's adorable no matter what happens when his voice matures. Get it Justin Bieber!

11. Tim McGraw by Taylor Swift: This song reminds me of a summer two years ago when I listened to this on repeat probably 200 times. I could not get enough, and I still love this song. Definitely one of the songs that sticks with you. I think she is another great artist and very smart and has handled fame with so much class. On this month's cover of Elle she looks stunning:
12. Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know by Britney Spears: Back in her golden days (aka CD's number 1 and 2) I loved Britney! This music video is super umm...Britney and she's all over this guy on the beach and it is very summery. I still like the song very much though!

13. Feels Just Like it Should by Pat Green: This song is all about Spring and Summer and makes me look forward to all the days off of school and great weather!

14. Redneck Yacht Club by Craig Morgan: I think of boat tie-up's in the river where I'm from everytime I hear this song. A bunch of my friends and I will pile on someone's boat and then meet up other kids from our high school on the water. It is such a good time seeing everyone in a great environment too!

15. Dust on the Bottle by David Lee Murphy: Another one of those songs with such a good summer and spring vibe. It is great for those long night drives that my best friend Emily and I do very often during the summer. "The Little Car" is what we call my civic and if that car could speak...Emily and I would have lots of secrets spilled from those summer drives!

What are your spring and summer songs? Do we have any of the same ones!?

xxKatie

OK... I know only one of those songs. LOL

So, the bad new is: No, you will not stay cool as you age. You will not know all the cool songs. You will not know have of the people in People magazine.

But the good news is that you will smile and think to yourself, "I love being 40 and fabulous, and I really don't care..."

Katie, you are too cute!
