Outfit of the Day: Preppy Profesh Dots Dots Dots

When my mom visited a few weeks back, one of her main goals was to get me some great work clothes! This OOTD features a few of those pieces!

I am in LOVE with these pants! I can't get enough of them! They are black with neutral colored dots all over, but from far away you'd never know! We snagged these from Loft, and they have a similar pair here. Other similar pairs here, here, and here! They are VERY on-trend this season!

I paired them with an Ann Taylor top that we got from AT in Charleston on the MAJOR sale rack! I know a lot of y'all had been interested in it and I found it! Ta-da! Find it here!

I thought that this went well with gold so I added Tory Burch Reva flats and a big, round gold watch from Target!

I wore this one day to my internship at the end of October and even considered adding nude pumps too. I think that these pants can really do a lot and I think my next endeavor with them will either be a black top or a cream/neutral party cardi!

I love these polka dot pants and can't wait to wear them more!

OOTD: Boots & Bootcut

When I see people wearing cowboy boots, they usually pair them with a dress or skinny jeans here on campus. I definitely rock my cowboy boots with skinny jeans, but I also love the look of cowboy boots UNDER bootcut jeans. It's absolutely one of my favorite fall looks! Your cowboy boots can just peek out under your jeans!
The jeans I'm wearing here are a great cut that I found at Nordstrom Rack. They're Seven for All Mankind's Skinny Bootcut--kind of the best of both worlds! I haven't seen any other brand come out with a design similar to these skinny bootcut jeans!

If you have a Nordstrom Rack by you definitely check the racks to see if they have your size. I snagged my pair for WAY under retail! Actually they were almost 90% off believe it or not!

This pair comes pretty close to mine! I am a huge fan especially for the amount of stretch in the denim material also. There is a massive amount of stretch and I feel great when I wear them.

I paired my fab bootcut jeans with this flannel shirt that I recently found at Old Navy. I've never been big into flannel and I decided to take the plunge with this shirt. I loved the sherbet-y colors of it and knew that I had pink and orange stuff to match it. The base color is neutral and would work with a ton of different accessories and bottoms.

My boots are my tried-and-true Frye Billy Pull On boots that I SWEAR by! Y'all know how much I wear these boots and I know I will have them for the next GOOD chunk of my life. I have broken them in and find them to be extreeeeeemly comfortable. The color I have is the basic brown and it really matches basically everything I own.

This has definitely been one of my favorite fall outfits that I've put together. It's rare that it's cold enough for flannel and a scarf, but I made it work! Do you wear a lot of flannel? What's your favorite denim cut?

Recent Acquisitions!

I've had a gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket since CHRISTMAS! Can you believe it? I was able to hold out on a LILLY gift card for 6  entire months. I know, quite a feat for this prepster! I wanted to make it worth it's while, so I wanted to pay the least amount out-of-pocket as possible. After being SO impressed with this last summer shipment, I decided on TWO pieces to spend my card on:
What says Annapolis more than boatflags? Nothing...also these shorts do feature the Whiskey flag...
I also topped off my packed with the Wiley tube top. I LOVE THIS TOP! I'm also going to get it in white from the store I like it so much. It is really flattering and long enough for me to wear. I'm considering the navy as well. So versatile and you could easily throw a cardi on top of this for a complete look to toss it into fall!

Anyone else get anything from this nautical line? It's one of my favorites that they've introduced!!

Otter Bay Company

About two weeks ago, a brand new company popped up on my Twitter feed: Otter Bay Company! Well can I just say, welcome to the preppy circuit! They are such a fun whimsical company! I was sent this top:
It is so soft and cozy and a great color for spring that I don't own too much of!

Their icon is the sweetest little otter too! It's on all of their products and not too big!  Will, the owner of Otter Bay Co. writes that the sea otter symbolizes a lifestyle of relaxation and enjoyment, but at the same time symbolizes an efficient hard worker. With over one million hairs per square inch the sea otter has the finest fur of all the mammals in the animal kingdom. The otter is presented in a relaxing pose, laying on his back, floating on the water. The otter is not smiling but instead gives off an experienced, more serious look. He is a formidable member of society; one to be respected, and admired. His presence has a certain charisma that brightens and adds class to every situation. My shirt is part of their Keystone series and I'd definitely recommend this top.

Will sent me a little info about how they got started too: Here I am a freshman in college, sitting in my little dorm room, coming up with solutions to cure world hunger etc, when a friend of mine walks in complaining about how another one of his polo shirt tails has ripped up the side. Having experienced this phenomenon myself on several occasions I knew what a pain it was. That night I went to bed and in my dream there were people complaining about all of the problems with their polos. The next day I began to research. Hundreds of samples, thousands of hours, countless “all-nighters”, miles of fabric, over a year of work, and at the cost of my sanity, finally came the most versatile polo in the world, The Keystone Polo, along with The Otter Bay Company.

A shirt for which the appeal goes far beyond the look of class, elegance, and success it conveys to everyone who lays eyes upon it. For which an entirely new blend of fabric was forged, the “Soft-Strech Micropique”. Soft on the outside, even softer on the inside, and with ultimate elasticity to be used everywhere for every event.

Plot Spoiler Alert: This spring we are planning to release our first two lines of tees, our exclusive “White Collar Collection”, and possibly dresses, skirts, or another women’s line!

Check them out for sure!!

Late Summer Staple

Long Sleeve White T-Shirts

I love a great long sleeve white t-shirt. You can throw one on with just about any bottom and you look effortless and chic. I think white long sleeve t's look nice with plain shorts, printed shorts, skirts, summer capris, and whatever else you can think of. I often wear one with navy J. Crew 5'' shorts and a great necklace (which was actually broken one night but then miraculously fixed by a good friend...I have no idea how he did it...) and Jacks. If you see some of my Polyvore sets, you know I wear this look a lot, just like July 26. and June 14.

For awhile I thought that long sleeved anything in the summer was silly. It's too hot and looks out of place, right? Wrong. You can not only take a long sleeve white t-shirt from day to night with a few simple changes, but it's a great alternative to a sweater or cardigan (although, don't get me wrong, I do love a good cardi).

I first got the idea to do so a few years ago from the Cape Madras website. They had some young girl models who all were wearing various madras bottoms (skirts, skorts, capris, or shorts) and different white tops. In a few of the photos (since I first saw it, all the photos have been re-shot) the girls looked so cute and effortless that I had to give the look a try. Here's a photo that was similar to the one I saw:

First of all, how adorable are they and second of all, how nice does the plain bright white long sleeve t-shirt look?

If you don't have a good white t-shirt in your wardrobe, I would suggest scurrying over to your closest J. Crew outlet and picking up 10 a few of their standard crew neck white long sleeve-ers. I also have a couple from Old Navy but they don't last as long or keep their shape as well. I also like the J. Crew scoop neck Artist T's, but sometimes they can be sheer so try them on before buying.

Anyone else like this look especially as a transitional outfit as summer begins to wind down (althought we still have a VERY long time, so not to worry!)??

Outfit of the Day: Wearing the Warehouse Sale!

Today I wore the halter that I got from the Warehouse sale!! I couldn't find any photos of the top that I got online to publish to Polyvore, so I had to substitute in mine. The top I actually got is in this print:
I totally love it and it is so comfortable! The delicate jacquard fabric makes the print almost look shiny! Tomorrow I plan on wearing my Nadja dress from the sale since we're supposed to be in the middle of some ridiculous heat wave, just like all my SC friends! (Miss you!)

Also today I stopped into Target to get a pair of shoes. As my mom reads this she'll be a little mad, but I promise they're cute mom! They're cork wedges. I never wear heels. Ever. I'm already tall enough and I never gravitate towards more height, but something about these I couldn't resist. A few nights ago, my friend Mary Claire and I had eaten dinner together at our favorite Thai restaurant and then we went to Target so she could buy work clothes. I ended up trying on a pair of Merona sandals and I told myself that I wouldn't buy them that night. I waited two days with the mentality that if they're still there I can indulge the $24.99 pricetag. Well they were still there!! Yay!!
Not only are these totally cute (and will go with a few my recent VS purchases) they are so comfortable. You have to try them on and they feel like super well made designer shoes. You would never guess by the feel that they were from Target!!! I'm really excited and I'll be sure to post my outfit with them! It was yet another time that being Bigfoot totally paid off. The only sizes they had left in-store were 10's and 11's. (For everyone's reference, they run small!)

I hope everyone is beginning to enjoy their own Warehouse sale purchases like me!!

The Lilly Warehouse Sale Results Are In!

Today, as I told you all a few days ago, my mom, sister, friend Emma, Emma's friend Catherine, Emma's mom and I all went to the fabulous LP Warehouse sale in King of Prussia, PA! It was a wonderful time that we all shared together!

We all got up very early so that we could drive in the morning and make it a pretty fast shopping trip. And when I mean early, I mean it-was-still-dark-out early. After hitting a little bit of traffic (which we learned was from an accident that temporarily shut down I-95), we finally made it to the craziness that was the Valley Forge Convention Center. Our very first sight was this:
That my friends, is the complete lack of any line to get in. We couldn't believe it!! We then shopped till we dropped and all came back with purchases (my mom included)!! It was freezing cold the entire time, but we all managed to enjoy the trip. Minus the awful "fitting rooms" which is really just one huge awkward area where all ages of girls and women are trying on LP clothes. It feels like a massive locker room, but everyone managed to stay semi-private, and I was certainly warned by both blogworld, and Emma's mom who is a LP Warehouse sale veteran. Emma and her mom have been going since Emma was 9 and she's now entering college.

That's my sister Grace (who designed the new blog layout if you remember) with one of her purchases! She looks adorable in this top when she's actually wearing it, but here she's being a total camera goofball and posing while we waited for our shopping companions to finish up!
Here she is again showing off purchase #2. Purchases #3 and #4 were a tote bag and cosmetic case respectively. Neither were introduced to LP stores, but instead (we think) were cut for the sale! I know some people were complaining about the prices of this year's sale, but look at this unbelievable deal that Emma got for a friend of hers:

She got this Charles Blazer for:
$29.00!
Can you believe that!? From $595.00 (which is crazy to begin with) to $29.00!! This was a GREAT deal no matter what anyone has to say!!!

Now I naturally had to save the best for last! My own purchases!! We certainly didn't go wild at the sale, but I managed to grab the equivalent to 4 new outfits for myself:

I got two dresses, a halter top and a skirt!

I am LOVING this strapless dress! I never saw this in-store and I'm not sure if this Betsey Dress ever went into true production, but I'm now the proud owner of this one!

I also never saw this top in production, but at $39 I couldn't resist. It was the perfect length on me and fit me in the top, so really I couldn't put it down. Those two are a RARE combo for me, plus it'll look really nice with a few pieces in my closet!

I also snagged a Nadja dress which I know exists because it's actually in the store that I work in! I love my red Nadja dress from last year, and I had to grab another one. I couldn't find any weird things wrong with it, it still has the sash and both of the sash holders are working, so I kept this gem too!

Last but definitely not least, I got this skirt too! It's called Simple Skirt, and I don't think I ever saw it before at the store. It's made from a great polka dot material that you can see faintly in some of the pink areas in this photo. It is an awesome summery material that will get many, many uses!!

Please post the things that you picked up at the sale!! Were any of you there today?! I'd love to see how everyone else did at this crazy sale! Best of luck to the rest of the shoppers this week!

Lilly Pulitzer Summer Favorites

Today during work it was deathly hot out, so the girl I was working with ok-ed it for e to try a few things on!

I've already decided that I'm going to buy the Callahan shorts because they're adorable, I can wear them during the entire summer as well as during school, and I'm a huge fan of the prints. These are the two I have on hold for myself:

I don't normally wear too much orange (not a great color on me...neither is yellow) but I'm loving both pairs of these!

The rest are just items that as a broke college student I can only afford to lust after:

This Bowen dress is AMAZING. The slightly sweetheart neckline is adorable and the shape is so flattering. The bust is very small though (which is good for me, but not for most) so I was very surprised since I usually have some problems with that. The length isn't too short and very nice for summer!

Truth be told, I may end up buying this Merianne top sooner or later. It was SO cute and again the bust was pretty small. This top was so much longer than I expected so Kudos to LP for their new lengths! I have an awesome pair of white jeans that this top would look great with. I also tried it on without the straps and it looked darling. A must have for the summer!!

Lilly lovers keep your eyes peeled for all these wonderful items for your summer wardrobes!! Have you made any LP summer purchases? Anything you're lusting over??
