Nike Tempo Shorts + College

Step onto any college campus ANYWHERE and I can guarantee you'll see at least 75% of the female population wearing Nike's Tempo Running Shorts. Some are wild looking while others are toned-down.

At any given time while I'm on campus, I can look around and easily spot 10 girls wearing these shorts. Some wear them with Jacks and some wear them with running shoes. I am going to guess that maybe a small fraction of these girls are actually working out. Just yesterday, I was driving around an area behind our campus called Five Points where there's a big nightlife scene and some shopping, and saw a group of 7 girls, yes 7, and each and every one of them was wearing a pair of these running shorts.

As all of you know, I will rarely, if ever, wear shorts and a t-shirt to class. I even wrote a persuasive argument in my speech class speaking about why students should wear outifts and not just workout clothes to class. I will confess to even owning a pair of these shorts:

I have this (grainy) pair myself. Just about the only times I wear them are Zumba class, cleaning our house, or to sleep in! They are very comfortable, but I would never wear these shorts five times a week like I'm sure some girls do. I'm sure some of my dislike of these shorts stems from running cross country. We were forced to wear polyester running shorts with the awkward basket inside for every meet we had. I also think that these shorts look like old school basketball player shorts:

Do any of my fellow college bloggers see the same thing on their campus? I feel like you must!!

I see them all over campus! I own several pairs myself, but I wear them to workout in, lounge around in or to wear to the library on the weekends. Never would I wear them to class unless I had to go straight to the gym after! Even if I don't feel like getting dressed up for class, I wear J. Crew shorts, a polo and sperrys. Easy, but still classy! Anyway, hope school is going well! :)

I always wear them to practice. and to clean in. BEST SHORTS EVER! But you will never see me wearing them to class (unless I was late from practice)

I have to confess I wear these to class on a daily basis!! They're just so comfy and easy! But I do also workout in them so that has to count for a little something too haha

On my campus everyone wears Lululemon yoga pants. To class, around town, and even to night clubs and bars. I know they're comfortable, but there are limits.

Oh they're everywhere here... And I'm guilty. I wear them pretty much everyday. It's so hot and muggy here, they're my lifesavers.

When I was in college I saw these every day but I didnt know what they were called. I would wear shorts and a tshirt most days, but the girls in these shorts always looked more pulled together then I did. Maybe I should invest in a pair

These are everywhere!!! I own two pairs and wear them either when I'm working out, walking the dog or going for a long drive. A friend of mine told me that she thought they looked like diapers (lol) and no, I would not wear them to class. I don't really care that others do (hey, they are better than the super-short cutoff jorts and cropped tops I keep seeing lately)... However, it's just as easy to me to put on a pair of chino shorts or a skirt or a dress and I stay just as cool in the 100 degree Florida weather. I think it's ridic that girls would wear them with Jacks.. at least sport some tennis shoes and pretend that you work out! lol.

I am obsessed with these shorts! I have about 15 pairs. I wear them to field hockey practice, working out, the library, errands and class. They are comfortable and so fun. I'm not ashamed to wear them to class. I think it's acceptable to. It's not like I look like a mess in them, I wear a clean shirt on top and still look respectable. Just as long as I'm not the girl sitting in the back wearing her pjs and showing off her killer hangover, I'm totally fine wearing my nike tempo shorts!

yes! i absolutely love them; but do agree that it seems a bit much when three girls in one of my class wear a different color of them each day with a white hanes v-neck cotton tshirt. again, love the comfort, but i do believe other clothes were made for a reason :)

They are absolutely everywhere here as well! I have a pair that I work out in, but I like to dress decent for class - fine, I like to wear jeans and a t-shirt dressed up with a scarf or necklace most days. But definitely are everywhere here at UT!

It's funny how these trends spread...everywhere! I like to wear them to the gym, with leggins. I can't believe they are so popular with the college crowd!

These are the standard uniform at my school. I own at least 15 pairs. Almost every girl I know wears nike shorts to class. They may not look the best, but they are the most practical choice. There is no close parking on campus so every day involves a lot of walking.

I see them EVERYWHERE... although I absolutely love them and own a zillion pairs, like you, I only wear them to the gym. Sometimes when I go to lunch on a Saturday or Sunday after a late night out, I will wear the temp shorts with a polo so it doesn't look too frumpy!

I'm a guy that used to swear foreign girls were hotter than American girls. But I'm now in college, and blondes&brunette American females are almost ALL wearing these, and ugggh I ca't ignore it! They've uh, gained weight, look GREAT i those, I gotta be honest. I've adjusted my attitude BIG TIME! Foreign girls don't come CLOSE to the American blondes&brunettes around campus all wearig these. You ladies are just too dang good, awwgh!

I adore these Nike Tempo Shorts. It was quite an interesting post for me. I too have to buy new work out apparels but not able to find what I have been looking for. I need some comfortable polka dotted and pattern leggings for cool summer gym looks. Was just wondering if you could help regarding it.
