1. You do not shave in November.
2. You DO NOT shave in November.
3. If you shave, you are out.
4. No trimming, no waxing.
5. No shaving can go on as long as you want to.
According to one of my favorite tumblr's, American Gentleman, there are rules on the maintenance of facial hair. I agree with them completely. They do not at all participate in "No Shave November". This is their ruling called "Basics: A Note on Grooming":
Facial Hair
Much like body hair, unless you have been told by your lady to keep a bear/goatee/mustache, you should not have one. Some women like hair on their men’s faces and that is up to them, but generally, a gentleman is clean cut. However, it is okay to let a couple days of stubble grow as long as you do not have an event and you are not working (read: it’s the weekend). This is also a very good indicator to someone about how much you care about your appearance, and a gentleman should always be concerned with his appearance.So to all my loyal boy readers (you know who you are), I hope I don't see you participating in this scratchy face contest. It is so...NOT preppay (thanks Jon and Brett).

Our hockey players do this and it drives me nuts! They are sooo gorgrous (refer to my blog to see my favorite one - lol) and too much facial hair is just NOT attractive or preppy
I completely agree with you! It's awful! Tons of guys at my college are doing it, thankfully my boyfriend isn't!
I actually don't mind it as "Movember" - growing a moustache for the month and collecting donations for men's cancers. It's for a good cause and it's only a moustache so not nearly as scruffy.
I am not a fan of no shave november!
My son did this in high school as a senior and it was funny because of the lack of facial hair. There is usually only one clear winner among teen guys. :) xoxo
I am not a fan of facial hair and thoroughly despise no shave November. Thankfully, with TLS being in the military, he has no choice but to shave!

One of my guy friends mentioned that he was doing this, and I was like "WHY?!" It's so disgusting, and not attractive.
As a friend of mine so eloquently stated on Facebook the other day "How would you guys feel if the girls participated in this?" Noo thank you!
Since when does someone's looks have to do with them being a gentleman? Last time I checked, a gentleman opens doors and pulls out chairs for ladies, says things like "ma'am" and "sir," and is genuinely a polite guy. I didn't know that if you have facial hair, that impairs your abilities to still be a gentleman.
Sorry, but you have to realize that looks are only skin deep and if you're judging whether someone is going to be a gentleman based on if the guy has facial hair or not, you're going to be sorely disappointed.
Actually, the entire point of Brovember and not shaving is to raise awareness for cancer "below the belt". It's no different than the profligate wearing of pink in October to do the same for breast cancer. I would hope we're all in favor of saving not just ta-tas, but also testes!
No Shave Brovember is not about who can grow out the best beard. It's actually about Male Cancer awareness.
On a side note, I keep a beard and keep it well trimmed(except for this month, gonna bush it out really well). Like the other Joe said(I'm actually a JOE too) Gentlemanliness has nothing to do with beards or appearance. It's how you treat the women in and out of your life.
