Nook Books

Recently, one of my co-workers asked me about my favorite Christmas gift. I was SO excited about my Christmas Nook! I have a MacBook and an iPhone, so I did not want a tablet. All I was looking for was an e-reader with a primary focus on books.
Ultimately I settled on the Nook SimpleTouch with Glowlight. I could not have been happier with my decision! I LOVE my Nook and I have already read and finished 3 books since getting it for Christmas.  I have a protective turquoise cover on it. Between New Years and heading back to school, I enjoyed wrapping myself up and snuggling with my Nook Books.

I love reading and I'm usually carting around books, especially when we go on vacation (I'm known for having 3-5 books on every vacation. Who really wants to carry those around with you on flights and when traveling?!). I clearly have gotten on the e-reader trend pretty late. I always just liked the feel of a book and knowing how far I had read and still had to go. Silly me just needed to try out an e-reader to know that you get BOTH of those with an e-reader! Needless to say, I'm absolutely a convert!

One day I was snuggled up in my National Aquarium Lilly Pulitzer Murfee scarf. I get questions about this scarf all the time! It is chock full of sea animals and was specially designed for the National Aquarium in Baltimore. (If you go to the Aquarium's gift website, you can actually still order them. Look for the PDF link in the bottom right corner!) In comments I was reading on Instagram, a few of y'all out there have this scarf too!

Who out there has a Nook too? Don't you just LOVE it?!

I don't have a Nook, but I do have a second generation Kindle and a Kindle Fire. The Fire is really for use as a tablet and for listening to audiobooks in the car, but I love to read on my 2nd gen. Kindle. I have it in a brown suede cover so that it even feels and smells a bit like an old book to me. I have to drive 80 miles to the nearest place to buy a book, so being able to get a new book instantly over the wireless function was a major seller. I also am one of those people who just cannot part with a book I have enjoyed, and our home was getting overrun. I had to do something. The biggest drawback I have found is having to turn it off for take-off and landing. This always happens when I'm at a "good part". It's also a horror when sitting on the runway for an hour waiting to take off "any moment". Otherwise, I love having an entire library in my purse and once I start reading it becomes a "real" book to me. Oh, and how about being able to get a new book the very moment it comes out? I love that!

I have a nook and I absolutely love it! You're right, it's so much more convenient for traveling. I tend to borrow people my books then forget about them so it's nice to have them all in one place haha. Love your blog xoxo

Thanks for sharing! I've been on the fence about an e-reader for a while... I always despise reading from a computer screen so I imagine an e-reader screen would be somewhat similar. Did you run into this problem at all?

I just got into the ereader trend too! My college's library bought a few hundred Kindle Fires and Nooks that are available for all faculty and students to borrow. I took one out my first week of school and was hooked. It was preloaded with the bestsellers from the month of August so I had some great titles to choose from. I read five books in the three weeks that I borrowed the Kindle Fire. I loved it so much that I got one right after returning the loaner. Ereaders are the best, so convenient and fun!

Ah, you have made me want a Nook now! Love the post. I have a kindle (the original version) and the fact that it doesn't have a glow-light is terribly annoying

I treasure my murfee from the Nat'l Aquarium. My husband got it for me before we were engaged as he knew I would adore it. I think there is sea water in my blood! I just love to have a truely unique murfee.
