Quack Quack!

I spoiled this post a few days ago when I posted my duck boots! I've had these LLBean Boots for a few years but I hardly ever get the chance to wear them in South Carolina!

Although it probably wasn't even "cold" by most of y'all's standards, it was CHILLY for us here! Read: I actually had to wear a winter coat. YUCK!

They had been calling for rain on-and-off and so I decided boots would be the best choice.
I have the LLBean 6'' Boots and they work perfectly for my climate and usage. I didn't need lined ones nor did I need really tall ones. Mine are EXTREMELY comfortable, especially the fat rubber heel. To me, they feel more like heavy running shoes than snow boots.

If you aren't on the Bean Boots bandwagon (say that 5 times fast!) you'll need to know that if you buy yourself a pair, you'll need to go down a size(s). I normally wear a 10.5 and actually ordered the women's 9 believe it or not. They still fit with fat socks. They aren't roomy, but the fit is great in the 9. The laces will also take a little getting used to, but they're nothing a double knot can't fix!

I think Bean Boots might be the ONLY perk of it being this cold!

Quack Quack

Quack Quack!

Duck Boots are a tried-and-true prep staple!

These duck boots are on my Christmas list in navy! But my question to those who currently own them is what size do you wear and what size does that translate into in your boots? It advises me for my 10.5 to go all the way down to a 9! That's a big jump, but I was just curious how to size them!

I love this height of the duck boots, the 6'', because they're functional and not overwhelmingly high up! I also like the navy because I wear navy more than black and I already have my brown cowboy boots.

So my question to y'all is about the sizing and if you like your duck boots?

Everyone in the reviews seems to RAVE about them and how much they love their boots and how they've owned them practically forever!! Thoughts?

Giveaway: Stadium Stompers!

For any of y'all that follow college football, you'll know we started LAST weekend for most of our schools! For all my Carolina Gamecocks, we are just itchin' to get a real home game in Williams Brice like nobody's business! This week the Gamecocks take on the Georgia Dawgs between the hedges down in Athens. I have a lot of friends going and they are going to have a blast!

Knowing typically Southern weather it's going to be crazy hot and insanely humid. The worst though, are games when it rains. There's nothing worse than looking fabu in your Gameday dress and having to tote a yucky raincoat around just in case. Well, that is until now:

Want to win a pair?
My personal favorite--South Carolina!

They literally make pairs for all of the following schools:
Tennessee, UVA, Ole Miss, Auburn, West Virginia, UNC, LSU, Richmond, Alabama, (dare I say it) Clemson, UGA, Texas A&M, USC (the real one AND the other one), and MANY more! There are so many combinations and you can shop by color or product!

Here are ALL the ways you can win:

1. For 1 entry become a fan of Stadium Stompers on facebook
2. For 1 additional entry (2 total) become a fan of Let's Be Preppy on facebook
3. For 1 more additional entry (3 total) follow Stadium Stompers on Twitter
4. For 1 more additional entry (4 total) tweet about this giveaway!
5. For 1 more additional entry (5 total) post about this giveaway on your blog!
6. Leave all entries in ONE comment on this post!

Enter by 11:59 by NEXT Friday! Can't wait to see which girl from which school wins! Go Gamecocks! Go SEC!

Good luck y'all!

Quack Quack Quack!

About a month ago my Momma called me inquiring about duck shoes. Not only were these your regular Bean boots or anything. Nope. They're pink and shiny and have my name written ALL OVER THEM. Here they are:
Sperry Topsider does Duck Shoes

It is supposed to be rainy, rainy, and more rainy here at home so I'm wondering if these will make their big debut this week! Should be fun to take for a test run huh? Looks like chances are they'll be debuting with the khaki monster (the nickname for my rain coat) and a big ol' umbrella too! Hopefully our power doesn't get knocked out because we resorted to this (although this isn't me...):
And if anyone saw my tweet, I said, "Why yes we have resorted to hand puppets in the ceiling via candlelight. My dog/alligator is chomping and eating everyone." My dog was kind of missing that top ear so it more resembled an alligator. We seemed to enjoy ourselves for enough time because the power ended up coming back on before we went to bed. Thank goodness that AC came back on just in time!!

Anyone getting a lot of rain this week? It's just about time for those summer soakers to start...

"Rain, Rain Go Away That's What All My Haters Say"

In the famous words of critically acclaimed poet, lyricist and performer Waka Flocka Flame featuring Roscoe...I'm sick of all this gloomy weather (that's an homage to my roommate, Megan). It's basically February, and yet I find myself still wearing boots, warm jackets and wanting mittens on some days. Yesterday I was so busy with homework, meetings and other random school activities, I barely had time to breathe. I no longer want to wear these few items:

All this lame cold weather stuff needs to be put in the closet, away once and for all! It's supposed to be OVER 60 degrees this weekend and I absolutely cannot wait! I'm ready to wear sunglasses to truly block out the sun and not protect  my eyes from the blistering wind! I can't wait for the South Carolina spring and sun and warmth! Just about a month left until we'll all be in shorts!!

Outfit of the Day: Traveling Home

I know I just did an OOTD post, but I couldn't help this one. I wore this coming home on Wednesday and it was quite a comfy travel outfit. I never know how cold or how hot a plane/airport will be, so there's always a lot of variability. Not to mention, Maryland weather is just as volatile as South Carolina weather, so packing was an entirely different nightmare. Although, when I was packing, I realized I needed a different bag, to then discover that I packed Wellies to bring to school with me:
Foolish me forgot that I brought any with me! Anyway, I'm typing as I listen to my new Darius CD that I still love (it's very rare these days to find an entire CD that you like in the age of singles, but I'm loving jammin' out to this one).

Back to the OOTD, I love this skirt. My mom picked it up for me YEARS ago from Vineyard Vines and I wear it all the time! I love it paired with black tights and black polos especially (as you can see). It's a super fun salmon color and I must seem like a walking billboard with my tote as well. It was a good choice for traveling since traveling in a dress isn't always the best option. I was comfortable and looked appropriate to be in an airport. I don't think people realize how much goes on while you're in an airport and how many people you come in contact with. There's no need (unless you're going on vacation) to look sloppy in a t-shirt and workout shorts. There's also no need to be wearing anything low-cut because there are so many professionally dressed people all around. Also, you'll be going through security and being searched sometimes and that's no time to have a wardrobe malfunction.

I'm ready for the real fall temps to drop a few degrees so that I can break out the tights and fun boots! I'm already thinking of what I can do with my wardrobe!

Sperry MUST HAVE

I'm in heaven.

I will probably be buying a pair of these PINK sperry Cormorant Slip Ons very soon for fall/winter. I'm not very big into rainboots (although I have a fabulous pink pair from Target) because by the time you're rocking a size 10 like me, the boot shaft is way too wide to look cute with pants. These little kicks however, would look GREAT with just about anything! These are a super fun alternative to the bean boots I was considering AND they'll match about 85% of my wardrobe. (Skyler I would so rock these to the Crab one day it was raining in Annapolis if you wear your chucks...deal?)

Thoughts? Necessary...I think YES!

Outfit of the Day: Rain Gear

Today was a weird weather day! It started out pouring pouring pouring rain and around 8:30am there was such a big thunder crack it sounded like an earthquake. This huge cracking noise was what really woke me up before my first class today. The rain always makes my days a bit lazier, but I have a HUGE test in my anatomy and physiology class tomorrow. Check out some of my other recent Polyvores! I can't say enough how much I'm loving my new pink Target boots!!

I'm basically taking two separate A&P courses right now between my lab and lecture (which really DO NOT coincide) and for the past 2 weeks and now this week, I've had a test each week. I'm so tired and just need a break. Spring break really could not come at a better time! As of this morning, I had 36 hours of class, but not that is a little reduced. I have to keep in mind that I'll be done soon and next week will be great since I don't have any tests or big looming assignments (yet).

Between group projects, tests, giving tours, working, and helping out some friends, I have been swamped ever since the semester started. I can't believe that February is almost over! I feel like I was just saying that January was over!! Soon enough it'll be spring break and then we'll be back in school for about a month-and-a-half and then it's finals before I know it!! Wow, that's insane! Unfortunately I think I'm getting sick :( :( :( because I've had a sore throat for the past few days and today is seemed to get a lot worse. As I study here in the library, I'm sitting here with some tea so I think that should help. I better get back to work since this is the home stretch! Soon it will be warm weather here and I'll be in a warm weather destination!! Wooo Hoooo!

Bigfoot

It is rare that I'm ever happy about the size of my feet. Nine times out of ten, I'm unhappy and the fact I wear a size 10 or 11 comes as a complete inconvenience. Nine times out of ten I get an "Oh, miss I'm sorry, the shoe isn't available in that size" or "A ten is rare, usually we'll only get 2 pairs, if any at all, that large and they go fast". BUT that one time out of ten, I strike shoe gold. That one happened tonight in Target. It's been incredibly rainy here at school, and when I was packing all my stuff up to bring back to school, my black rain boots took up too much room, so I tossed them out at the last minute. As I was saying though, I got SO lucky tonight and found these boots!! I've needed rain boots for I can't tell you how long at school and I was going to buy a pair of Hunters, but the price tag just made me hesitate so much!!! I can't get myself to buy rain boots for that much, a later investment I guess. Maybe a gift down the road or something. I certainly don't live in Seattle or row crew like College Prep, so it's not imperative to have durable boots!

I was thrilled to find this pair (the last of this color combo) in the store in my size!! I'm so excited to finally have a pair of rain boots so I don't have to wear the same dingy running shoes every time it rains. I also LOVE the polka dots AND the color--just about everything I own is a shade of pink, but you guys all knew that! Now I'm kinda hoping that it rains so I can wear these babies (kind of...)!! I hope you are all having great weekends!!
