Old School T & Co.

I spotted this on tumblr a few days ago and wanted to pass it on to blogworld. These are definitely a few thoughts to keep in mind both during the holiday and normally, and I really liked it. My computer background is 15 or so thoughts to keep in mind during the day to keep me on track and I really like this newspaper version:

There are times:
To hold open a door.
To surrender your seat.
To thank someone in writing.
To let bygones be gone.
To listen with care.
To surprise with a gift.
To mind your table manners.
To honor tradition.
To give voice to your heart.

I'm a big fan of these little thoughts and I know I'm hitting a point in my semester where I need to keep a clear mind. It's the beginning of a very stressful time for most people (holidays, finals, etc.) and we all could use a little reminder! Thinking of you all!

"The Dailies"

I've gotten a few requests and comments about the jewelry that I wear everyday. I don't wear much jewelry, but I do wear a few things each and everyday. From the top down:

I wear this exact necklace everyday. No joke, that is my exact monogram, cRa and I have the Basch Sterling Sliver Script Monogram Pendant. I wear it on a round silver snake chain that I got from a local silver jeweler. I get tons of questions on this necklace when I feature it on my Polyvore. A jeweler that eventually ended up closing its doors sold me mine, but a company called Basch are the ones who actually make the necklaces. Since all the work is custom, it takes a little bit to get to you, but for as much as I wear mine, it's so worth it. You can actually buy them on QVC.com if you search "Basch" in the box.

I got this ring for my High School graduation from my parents and I wear it everyday on my right hand ring finger. I was hesitant to wear it because I knew I'd be sick if something happened, but then again why have nice, pretty jewelry if you can't wear it! It's tough to see, but it has 4 pink sapphires around the sides. I like to have the 2 brightest ones facing out (and I actually get particular if someone takes my ring off that it gets put back the right way!)!

Everyday I also wear earrings unless my ears hurt from the last pair. I don't have sensitive ears at all, but sometimes junky earrings get me. I often wear a pair of pearl earrings or silver pearls. If they get switched out, then I wear fake diamond studs or a specific pair to match what I'm wearing (Elsa Peretti silver hearts, black pearls, etc.). One of my favorite pairs of earrings is actually from Claire's and they're pearls with teeny tiny cubic zirconias on top of the pearls. They're so tiny and delicate that people always think they're real. Very classy for Claire's, I know, kinda ridiculous!

Do you ever wear some things everyday? Got any great wedding/engagement rings to show off?! I'd love to see!!

Gift Giving

I meant to post a few days ago (really awhile ago...) about what we got my dad for Father's Day. Oops...a few days late on that for sure! I was reminded to write about it because I saw the gift by all the stuff he was traveling with. I just found out that he ended up (proudly) wearing the tie that we got him from Lilly:
We had so many cute options to choose from, but since I'm a totally a pink girl, we picked out this for him! I love Lilly ties for guys of any age. They're so popular with the boys at school. I'd even say that the bowties might be more popular!

Also, a few days ago was my Momma's birthday! Yayyy! We got her the Tiffany Elsa Peretti Open Wave Lariat Necklace! If any of you remember, this is the same special necklace I got for my 18th birthday. My mom loves it so much that we decided she needed one for herself too!

I went to go check it out online, but it was "no longer available". Cue heart sinking and stomach lurching. I immediately call the closest T&CO to my house and ask what the deal was. Well not only did Tiffany have the BEST customer sales representative I've ever dealt with besides Apple, but she entered a system-wide search to see who had this necklace still possibly in stock. That includes ALL of their overseas stores too. After running a search for me, she called me back and told me that she could get one, but she wasn't sure where it would be from but I gave her all the necessary information anyway. Well just two days ago the wonderfully perfect necklace arrived and will be all ready for a birthday presentation when my Mom returns from the beach!

I love giving gifts to people! I always enjoy making gift baskets or finding the perfect gift for someone especially when you know its unexpected, special, and something they wouldn't normally get for themselves!

My Birthday!!

January 8, 2009: Happy Birthday Katie and Elvis! So, the big day. It was so much fun! I love birthdays! My comes especially close to Christmas so I always find myself looking for things to ask for and usually I come up empty-handed. This year was one of those years. My mom literally ran down the list:
"Clothes?"
"No."
"Jewelry?"
"Not that I can think of."
"Purses?"
"Not really."
"Accessories?"
"No, Christmas is such a problem with January birthdays..."
And it continued like that throughout our dinner conversation.

So my birthday morning came and went, it was a Thursday. Nothing particularly exciting that morning. When I got to school, Emmy, one of my friends gave me a little note and told me that she was going to take me out to lunch someday when our schedules didn't conflict. Meredith, another friend of mine, came up to me and handed me a pan full of brownies, not a bad gift at all! The day continued similarly, and a fellow January 8th-er and I had an unofficial competition that whenever we saw one another we had to yell "Happy Birthday" first. (We tied.) Last period of the day, my anatomy and physiology class enjoyed some very preppy cupcakes (decorated with a "princess" kit from Williams and Sonoma.

When I got home, I walked into the house to see our living room table covered in wrapped gifts, gift bags, and colorful cards. I opened everything and was very happy with what I got.My dad typed up this big long letter that was so sweet all about me growing up and whatnot. I can't wait to reread it on my own time. My parents gave me a beautiful necklace, like nothing I own, from Tiffany's. The "Elsa Peretti Open Wave Lariat" was what they picked out. Now, I'm sure if my mom is reading this, she'll be unhappy that I now know the price, but mom, I tried not to look!!! I promise!! Anyway, I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I also got Lilly PJ's that I've worn every night since I got them and they're in the "Animal Crackers" print that is one of my favorites of the PJ line. We also switched to verizon wireless, which my sister and I were DYING to switch to. All of our friends have it and we formerly had T-Mobile, and no one would ever text us! So I got a "LG Dare" when we went to verizon. I got a Coach bracelet from my aunt and it's red and has pink C's all over it, which I love because my real name is Catherine! I hope that everyone has fabulous birthdays from here on in, in the New Year!

PS: inthepinkonline.com is having a sale on Lilly sunglasses. I mean slashed prices, even on the polarized ones! Jump on that while they're still there! My advice is going for the Dylan's and Manda's and Calista's and Randi's!
