Best T-Shirt

I'm a big fan of any t-shirt that steps up t-shirt game. I like pocket t's, super soft t's, and pretty much any t-shirt that wasn't a free giveaway or part of high school or part of a sports team. There was a time and a place for those, and they can stay where they belong. Take old (but highly loved t's) and make an awesome t-shirt quilt like this one (any Theta alums out there...):
I recently picked up an awesome t-shirt (the amount of times I've mistyped "t-shirt" with an expletive is ridiculous) from a great store here in Columbia called Britton's of Columbia:
This is the back! how great is it? Palmetto + Whales...it doesn't get much better than that until you see the front:
It's a pocket t-shirt!

I love this t-shirt like I said, because it really steps up the game for most t-shirts! Got any especially cool ones? Anyone got a cool personalized one like Vineyard Vines did for Britton's??

Outfit of the Day: Summer Shifts!

Today I wore one of my delightful Lilly summer shifts! I got this one for Christmas and I absolutely love it!  It is so comfy and the slub material so perfect for a summer shift. As I was putting together this polyvore set, I actually came across a Basch monogram necklace with my exact monogram...how weird right?! On the QVC website where you can purchase them, I found this picture:

How CRAZY is that?! My exact monogram is cRa! I couldn't get over the coincidence, so that is the necklace that I will be featuring in the rest of my polyvore sets! Also today, before I got dressed for work in that fabulous dress, I tried my Southern Tide Channel Marker Tee for the first time.

Besides the adorable model, you can check out the shirt that I got. It is SO soft and I wasn't even expecting it. On the back of the tee there are two channel markers and since I live in such a nautical city, I couldn't help but love it!

I hope you guys are all breaking out your own comfy tees and summer shift dresses!!

Boy Lesson 2: Casual Wear

This is part two of my segment on what boys can wear! I'm not entirely sure how many posts this will have, but this one is devoted to casual wear (for warmer weather since it's snowing in many places now!!) since the last one was a bit more formal. Let's start with tops/shirts:

T-Shirts:

T-Shirts can be great for any occasion. They can be worn tucked in or not, and just keep them clean, both hygiene-wise and word-wise. No one likes your tacky beer shirt or the "I'm with stupid" shirt. Novelty shirts are just silly. Sports teams are also great! When I was in high school, all the boys typically wore either lacrosse t-shirts or sport teams that they played. Now that I'm in college, I think it's time for guys to depart with all their high school sports team shirt and move onto college--much more timely!!

Polos:

Polos are a good alternative to t-shirts. They automatically look dressier than a T, but here it's all about preference. I think every guy needs a few colors: White, Black, Navy, Red, and Pink (yes, pink, you can pick the shade). With those 5 colors, the possibilities are endless, especially with white. A white polo is so crisp looking and I think when in doubt, a white polo always looks great!

Shorts:

If you're looking to go basic khaki is always great, even though not pictured. I think that nice khaki shorts are great in the spring through early fall and can be very versatile, coordinating with a button-down, polo, or t-shirt. All the other shorts options shown are great too. I'm a HUGE fan of madras as I said in the last post. I like both pastel (I'm actually more fond of pastels) and traditional, but I think guys are more likely to buy a traditional colored pair with deep hues like red, navy and gold. Either way they're a great choice. I absolutely ADORE colored twill shorts. I think these are the best choice out of all of them because of the color range. You can get colors to literally match anything in your closet. And last but certainly not least are seersucker. I think seersucker is the epitome of summertime since it's so light and comfortable. (The last 3 photos of shorts are all from VV, just a head's up because they've got a great selection for guys!)

Accessories:

Croakies: I'm not entirely sure how I feel about them. If you take them out of context, they are extremely functional, although at school they have a rep as being "very fratty" (which I don't this is entirely a bad thing, but like I said, it depends on the context) because mostly frat guys wear them. I wear them, though and I'm a girl. I have a garnet USC one for gameday and I have a pink palmetto one that I like a lot!

Sunglasses: They don't have to be aviators, but I think every guy needs a good pair of sunglasses that look good on them. Again, they're very functional, but only buy expensive ones if you know you can take care of them. Brands boys wear typically include Costa del Mar (in the South), Ray Bans (in the North), Oakleys (in the north), Von Zipper (in the North), and then most of the time cheap-o ones from anywhere.

Belts: I think every guy (and girl for that matter) needs a good leather belt. Along with a leather belt, maybe spring for a few funner belts like these from Tucker Blair and Smathers and Branson. These two companies are well known for their craftsmanship, and you know you're getting something great. At the store I used to work in, we sold S & B belts and keychains and the keychains flew off the shelves with women too! There was a boy in my high school who had a S & B 4-leaf clover belt that I LOVED. I never told him that but it was SO nice!

I hope the boys out there will appreciate some of these notes!! Just suggestions and chances are they probably have some in their own closets!!

Have any of your own suggestions? What do you like boys to wear? Definitely let us know!!!

Southern Marsh

Hey everyone! I just found this company the other day: Southern Marsh. All my Southern bloggers are going to love them, as will everyone else! They have such a fabulous website, and have great clothes! It is so bright and sunny on their website it reminds me way too much of the beautiful weather at school and NOT here in MD! I am totally realizing how much I took the South Carolina weather for granted! They call themselves "The Original Southern Clothier", so you know their stuff has got to be good. As an added bonus, they sell all these preppy clothes for both men and women.

Check out this shirt, the Southern Marsh Southern Classics Embroidered Pocket Tee. I am in love with pocket T's! They are all over the college scene, and it seems like everyone has great pocket T's. I'd love to add this little baby to my own collection, since it's nicer than just throwing on a regular t-shirt that you'd workout in. How cute would this top be with dark jeans? Love it!

I also love long sleeve t's. They are cozy and warm and always good for SC autumns and even winters--we're too too lucky! I love the back of this shirt:

Green and Navy is such a good color combo and I love the tagline: "The Gentlemen's Foxhunt". You just never see those anymore, that's for sure! Not only do they have T's, but they have all kinds of dress shirts, polo dresses, croakies (a big college accessory) and coozies (I don't even think I need to add that coozies are also big college accessories)!!

Plus, this company has some of the cutest cutest cutest photos advertising their products. They are so sweet that I can't get enough, nothing like the complete trash you find in some teen stores (you all know what I'm talking about, you can hardly call them advertisements since they aren't wearing clothes!!) Look at these:

I just think this picture is so sweet! It's so spur of the moment and the black and white is adorable.

I think this company is too cute and I can't wait to order something! They describe the south too well:
"Known for it’s unique culture, beautiful people and timeless dress–The South is an area of the country that still finds time to escape the hustle and bustle of big city life. We do our best to package up a piece of that charm and give a snapshot into life with a little authentic southern class."
Go check the website out, I feel a little behind the curve since I know some bloggers already know about these fab people! This is yet another great pocket T, AND it's long sleeved--best of both worlds! I'm considering making this photo my computer background!

And as they say, Merry Christmas from the South (even though I'm home)! I hope everyone had wonderful, warm, safe Christmases! I'll be working many days this week and lusting after the entire Resort 2010 collection...yikes!!
