Growing Up

First it was going to high school.
Then, it was going to college.
Then, it was moving to your first apartment.
Now, moving to a house? (for the record, my house looks nothing like the Barbie Malibu Beach Club House...)

Yes, y'all, I'm moving to my own, real, free-standing house with two roommates. Let me tell you, moving is NOT easy! I have an entirely new appreciation for the hard work my parents have done for each of our big moves!

Logistically, packing is difficult--you have to be able to see where things need to go while thinking about how heavy boxes are, but still packing everything that you need safely and securely. THEN you get to the car part. Where Little, my Honda Civic, gets stuffed with clothes, bedding, shoes, furniture, and anything else that you can imagine accumulates in a college girl's room across the span of two years. I tweeted this picture yesterday of a bunch of the clothes in my car all stacked:
See all those nicely stacked hangers? Inevitably, moving becomes a kind of "Barrel of Monkeys" game where one hanger gets another one, and well...you know where I'm headed.

I made a few trips back and forth between houses yesterday and will finish packing, moving, and cleaning tomorrow through tomorrow night.

Here's to the HOME (get it?!) stretch!

Big Clean and a Glimpse of My Closet

It's officially November (and we're still in shorts...) and so I did a HUGE clean of my room and organized my closet. I brought out my fall-winter-ish stuff and hung it all up. I had to make my way over to Target to get some hangers and hanger clips for skirts and stuff. I've never done one of these posts, but this is what my closet looks like:
(sorry about the graininess it's from my phone...my camera's downstairs and I'm pretty lazy tonight)
Everything is finally hanging up. I think I have over 100 hangers in there. In order:
1. Black dresses
2. Fall dresses
3. Lilly dresses
4. Knit dresses (mainly VS and American Apparel)
5. Summer going out tops
6. Summer skirts (VV and Lilly and some Target)
7. Fall skirts
8. Fall going out tops/turtle necks/rugbies
9. Blazers
10. Oxfords
11. Sweaters
12. Work/VC Clothes

The bottom of the closet is my accessories holder and my laundry (sorry...that's a little gross that I included that), and then my shoes are in my storage closet. That also has my coats, workout clothes and pajamas! I thought I'd do my own closet post since it's quite popular!

Outfit of the Day: Running Errands Back on Campus!!

Today I wore a new shirt that my mom picked up for me from the J. Crew outlet. It's not exactly like the one pictured, but instead it has 3 faux strands of pearls and a few bows. I couldn't find it online, but I promise it's cute. I also wore a great pair of flats from the Miss Trish of Capri line of sandals from Target. They bend in a weird place, but are an adorable alternative to Jacks and add a splash of color.

I haven't been regularly blogging because I've been moving into my new apartment. I'll be sure to get my bootay organized and snap some photos for here and my mom. She's dying to see the "final thing" even though it's not really close to finished. Unfortunately I've had to prioritize everything and blogging hasn't been #1. I'll be sure to keep you guys updated from here on after.

Onto the good news, I got the grade that I needed to get credit for my calculus class. I really believe that it's impossible to accelerate (as I think about the acceleration double prime formula...yuck.) an entire semester's worth of work into 4 weeks including the final. Yikes! But that is in the past and I can move on. What that good news means is that I can matriculate into the school of business normally and have lost little or no time. A good friend of mine has only taken 1 business class that I'll be missing, but otherwise my AP credit (thank God) gave me a boost. My life now has a plan and isn't as "in shambles" as I've been thinking for the last two months. We can now move on and continue with college. I've had the best support systems through this whole summer between my main student organization, friends, math tutor (shout out to Kate!), and family.

I'm about to go cut up some DEEEElish caramel cake that my mom sent me as a deliciously sweet treat with some of the friends I invited over to "my place" to enjoy it too! Tomorrow look out for a post about the most darling penguin cupcakes that we made with marshmallow fondant!

The Maryland in Me

I was just reading Kate's post today, and it was all about nautical Coach accessories. Well the Maryland girl in me just gravitated toward this naturally:

They are adorable! How cute is a patent leather red heart-shaped crab?! My own keychain doesn't need any more additions though, as it is large enough already with some fabulous accessories. I'll make another post about that another day.

But our own house is very (VERY) nautical. Living so close to Navy, it is a very big part of our life, not to mention Annapolis is the sailing capital of the world! Our main house colors are yellow, red, sand, and lots of blues thrown in there. Our coffee table is even a rowboat:
It doesn't look this cheesy with all the goofy shells around it. Instead, ours has some meaningful stuff on the inside like a fish that my grandfather hand carved as well as some other shells from special vacations too.

I will be heading back to MD in a few days...I can't believe it! Summer starts after I finish up my exams and then I'm sure it will travel by too! Plain craziness!

Can Martha Stewart Fix This Frat?

I think that this commercial is too funny! I would love to be the fraternity house designer at school! The Greek Village (GV) here is unbelievable!! The houses are gorgeous and all professionally decorated so there isn't any of this:

The USC Greek Village looks like this, instead:

The 4-story Chi Psi house

The GV entrance and the Lambda Chi Alpha house

Think, being Martha Stewart + Fraternity Boys + House Designing + Shopping for Decorations + helping them clean up their act = VERY MUCH FUN! I saw this commercial the other day for Macy's and thought that if you hadn't seen it, it's definitely a good one!!

PS. Drinking a Sonic Cherry Limeade...you should definitely try one! I am going to miss Sonic a lot when I go home back up North!!
