Tacky Christmas...Yikes!

So for a winter banquet for one my my organizations, we had a tacky christmas theme. It. Was. Gross. We all had VERY tacky clothes. Most girls borrowed sweaters from their moms and boys tended to match clothes together that did not match. We weren't the best looking group, but we had an awesome vibe going for the whole night!
I wore a denim shirt with all kinds of yucky embroidery that was a size 4x from WalMart and I tried to make it a little bit cute with a belt, but it's tough to make it look cute. My rookies still managed to look adorbs (love y'all) even in their tacky clothes!
Here are all the wonderful (tacky) rookies who were graduating--we are SO proud of all of you!

I had never been to a tacky sweater party or event, but this was too much fun! I made 2 boxes of cupcakes and decorated them with fabulous Wilton cupcake topper/wrapper sets from WalMart too! Everyone seemed like they enjoyed them (which always makes me SUPER happy) and they looked cute too! Some of my sets looked similar to these but had little trees and snowflakes instead, but keep an eye out for the sets, they are so much fun and look great on cupcakes:

I had a great time kicking off the holiday season this early on! It makes me look forward to finishing up exams and heading home!

LBP a Capella

Last night I was lucky enough to be one of 300 in a standing-room only concert by SoundCheck (SC...get it...?) one of USC's a capella groups. They're the all male group and it was SO much fun!! One of the singers is an ambassador with us, so a few other ambassadors went to go support him PLUS I'd never been to an a capella show. I've seen the groups do a few exhibition type performances, but this was great! We were all grinning ear to ear and my friend and I were straight up giddy watching these guys! They were too much fun and totally hammed it up which we appreciated! Here are some of their FABulous YouTube videos:

If anyone saw my tweets from last night, they even did an Antoine Dodson "remix" that everyone was lovin'! Here's a shoutout to USC reader Sneha (you really made my night so you get a special shoutout!) and her BF, he's the one singing "Stand by Me" in that vid. We had a great time and I'm sure everyone else there did too!

What I'm Thankful For

There is so much to be thankful for in my life. Here's just a small snippet of my list:

1. My little family (EKS this includes you too but you're not in any of our "traditional" fam photos):
2. My big family (with all of our new additions!):
3. The best readers anyone could ever have:
4. Two crazy roommates who put up with me (one of these things is not like the others...):
5. Big wins that make us one of the best schools to EVER ATTEND:
6. Country music that helps me fall asleep:
7. The best place to work in the world (plus sCe, Miss Skyler obvi):
8. BBM so my I can send HUGE texts to my sister telling her about my big-college-girl-problems:
9. Diet coke to get me through Accounting 225 and Philosophy 110...the banes of my existence:
10. And last but certainly not least a little obsession I call LBP.

Fashion for a Cause Round Two

Well the fashion show went swimmingly!! I had such a fun time rocking it down the runway and a few of my closest friends came to support me (they even made me laugh a little on the runway...as you'll be able to see!!) Here are a few pictures:
My friend Mattie snapped this from her phone!
This was me holding in LOTS of giggles and trying to be a little bit serious! My friends were cheering like crazy (which I SO appreciated) and so I had to totally hold it in. We modeled Gap RED line clothes and I ended up wearing my own jeans because I was too tall for the samples that they provided. It was such a fun night and I'm so glad that I did it!!
Naima was the host and I got to sit next to her while we were both in hair and makeup! She was on the phone with her boyfriend at home and it was too cute to eavesdrop on...oops! I had such a fun time doing this!!

MY ROOKIES!

These are the WONDERFUL ladies that I'm partially responsible for training to be new Ambassadors! Aren't they precious? It's pretty much the closest thing I'll have to a big/little type thing since I'm not affiliated with a Greek organization. These girls (Colleen on the left and Grace on the right) are going to make fabulous new UA's and I can't wait to see what they're gonna do! Another one of my friends, Ashley is the other coach and we couldn't be more proud of them! (Also spotted: my Murfee!) I hope everyone's having relaxing Sundays and not feeling as stuffy as I am!

Fashion for a Cause: A Socially-Conscious Fashion Show

Tonight's the night! Here goes taking a big ole' chance at nothing!! I'm modeling a Gap (RED) line outfit which I found out on Sunday night! I'm gearing up for an exciting night! Our call time is at 3, so I'm sure I'll be busy until then between class, working, more class, and a quiz!

Roadtrip: T-Minus 10

I've been talking a lot about a roadtrip recently. One of my best friends from school and I are going to take a roadtrip from my house to school!
Here's the fabulous route that we'll be taking care of my TomTom!

I am so excited about making this trip, however I've never done one quite like this! I've never driven the entire 9 hours myself. I've been a passenger on a return trip from Christmas break, and I've driven portions of the trip, but I've never done it all on my own. I'm considering it my own little test and I'm sure I can do it! What's the longest driving trip you've ever made?

Here's my list of stuff to bring so far:
  1. GPS/Mapquest directions (although in all seriousness, I'll be making 7 turns for the whole trip)
  2. Snacks (stops will be made, obviously)
  3. Diet Coke
  4. iPod with FAB playlists (thankfully Aly and I love the same music so that won't be an issue)
  5. Gas $$ (rats!)
  6. Comfy driving shoes (aka sneakers and no Jack Rogers)
Any advice for me? I'm happy to take any at all!!!

Lilly Warehouse Sale Time and a (mini) Life Update

Hi all! I've been so busy this week already and it's only Tuesday! One of my closest friends from school and I are going on a MAJOR roadtrip (9+ hours!!) from my house to school at the end of the month so I've been doing all kinds of things in prep for that. She's flying down from Cincinnati where she's from and then to here and then we'll head from BWI to Columbia!! I cannot wait to see her and all the people who are still there for the summer!
Here we are at the big award ceremony for Ambassadors this year! How fab is she?!

On to more pressing business though, is the wonderful Lilly Sale this week!! I cannot wait to hear updates about how everyone's went on these very busy days!! My mom, sister, future Gamecock Emma, and her mom are all going on THURSDAY (if you're going that day shoot me an email, maybe we can meet up super fast if time permits!!) to the sale in KOP. Emma and her mom are Warehouse sale veterans so hopefully they'll know their way around much better than we will!

I am VERY excited to see what they have to offer us! I'm especially excited about all the random stuff that they might have too like the GWP stuff and items that we're cut for the season, but are there to look through!!

Anyone else going? Have you gotten any steals or goodies so far?? I'd love to know so fill me in!

xxKatie

PS: Anyone excited for REGIONALS TONIGHT ON GLEE?!? I SURE AM!!
