Turks and Caicos: A Playlist

Although I won't get to see the golden boy of country music while he's on spring break, I know many people who will be! As a gift to myself, I'm making a great Turks and Caicos Playlist for my own spring break, and more likely, spring semester:

1. Cruise: Florida Georgia Line
2. You Shook Me All Night Long: AC/DC
3. One of Those Nights: Tim McGraw
4. Young Girls: Bruno Mars
5. Back Here: BBMak
6. If You Want Some: Joel Crouse
7. Don't Wake Me Up: Chris Brown
8. Dayum, Baby: Florida Georgia Line
9. Summer Back: Andy Gibson
10. Pirate Flag: Kenny Chesney
11. Shake the Sand: Luke Bryan
12. Back Around: Josh Thompson
13. Let Me: Pat Green
14. Everything But You: Kip Moore
15. Did It For the Girl: Greg Bates

Rockin' & Rollin (A Playlist)

Well y'all it's been awhile! I haven't posted a playlist in a million years! Crazy crazy!

I am LOVIN' this current playlist (it's officially been in the car for a day.)
I tweeted this picture two nights ago right after I made it. Clearly I'm rockin' a throwback by making a CD instead of an iPod playlist, but I cannot seem to find it for the life of me, so CD's will totally fit the bill!

1. Titanium by David Guetta feat. Sia
2. Paint Me a Birmingham by Tracy Lawrence
3. Everybody Talks by Neon Trees
4. Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know by Britney Spears (this is quite the Britney heavy CD!)
5. Someone Else Callin' You Baby by Luke Bryan
6. Calabria 2008 by ENUR
7. Turning Home by David Nail
8. Get Low by Waka Flocka Flame
9. Callin' Baton Rouge by Garth Brooks
10. Sometimes by Britney Spears
11. Here for a Good Time by George Strait
12. Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie and the Blowfish (to start getting ready for that concert in August!!!)
13. Where Them Girls At by David Guetta
14. Just Passin' Through by Jason Aldean
15. Crazy by Britney Spears
16. Can't Fight the Moonlight by LeAnn Rimes
17. Whine Up by Kat Deluna
18. Feels Just Like It Should by Pat Green
19. Booty Call by Ke$ha
20. Whiskey Girl by Toby Keith

For me a GOOD playlist combines old jams (both 90's and older), new songs, the usual favorites, pop, country, rap, and a mixture of everything else. I like top 40 with old school country, and all the songs have to be sing-at-the-top-of-you-lungs-able. This CD was made with cruisin' in mind, and it does a great job of that!

What are you favorite parts of a good CD or playlist? What's on your current playlist?

New Tunes

Lots of new music has been dropping recently! I love it! Here are a few of my new favorite picks:
Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" CD
Specifically I like "Good in Goodbye" but the whole CD kinda rocks. She's really got some GOOD pipes!

Lee Brice's "Hard 2 Love" CD
My favorite song on this CD is "That's When You Know It's Over" and since I've downloaded the entire CD, I've listened to it 13 times. In like less than 2 days!

Josh Abbott Band's "Small Town Family Dream"
I think JBA has a great sound, but I know there are a few that disagree. Maybe it's an acquired taste! The best in my book from this CD is called "My Texas" and features another fave of mine, Pat Green!

Josh Gracin's "Redemption" CD
I don't have this entire CD, but I have downloaded "Over You" and "Only When It Rains" and I like both! I still remember him as this babyface from American Idol:
Talk about a blast from the past!!!

What are you listening to as we transition to summer? It's when I really start to be about 90% country, 10% everything else! Country gets CRANKED up in Little, and we drive around, windows down with the country blaring...there's no other way!

Colder Weather

Every week as I either get ready for class or work at the store, I always tune in to watch the Today Show! I like Matt, Money 9-1-1, the Friday concerts and even Hoda and Kathie Lee. Sometimes they can be kinda annoying, but sometimes they're fun!
One time I did like them was the day Hoda introduced us to "Colder Weather" by the Zac Brown Band!

It describes my trek back up North to a tee! I could feel it during my drive get colder and colder and colder until today when I was a PREPSICLE! (I can't take credit for that one though, I wish! A girl I went to high school actually called me that!)

At one of my stops near the exit to Boone, NC, I even saw my breath!!!! I got out of the car in yoga pants, sneaks, and a long sleeve t-shirt to get gas and nearly FROZE! Quite the homecoming for this girl who wore shorts to her Friday final. Craziness!

What's the weather like for you at school vs. at home? Just like me? Totally the opposite?

Tailgates and Tanlines: Luke Bryan Concert!

Last night was the UNREAL Luke Bryan concert! Never in my life have I been to such a good concert! He was GREAT live. You know how sometimes the artist doesn't sound as good live? Well, there was almost no difference except the different live changeups they made in the songs (read: all the mashups he did including but not limited to Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Vanilla Ice.)

We had SUCH a great time at this concert!
Colleen and I went together and got there VERY early. The people watching was a lot of fun and we got great spots. There was no sitting (the "venue" was a parking lot) so we wanted to make sure that we got good spots! I wore my Finn Shift in Navy that I got during the online Lilly sale with my Frye cowboy boots. Cowboy boots (or as I called them for all the men wearing them, Cowmen boots) were certainly the shoe of choice for everyone! I wore my navy Fornash clover earrings with the dress too!
One of my favorite moments was the Clemson/USC dance battle that Luke Bryan hosted on stage! He really did his homework for our college town cracking jokes about Stephen Garcia, the USC/Clemson rivalry, and congratulating us on our win yesterday. HUGE props to him for being invested in our little college town! We were instantly won over with all the Gamecock stuff he added into his songs like "Carolina girl shake it for me!" and adding in "Carolina" almost every time one of his songs says "Georgia" instead.

OH BOY, Luke Bryan was a DRRRRREAMBOAT. We were swooning with that million-dollar smile and dance moves all night long! We joked that he must have been a dancer in a former life, he was so smooth!!! We had a GREAT time and I will happily attend another Luke Bryan concert in the future!

Weekly Gratitude

I barely even remember this week. Flew by SO fast...I guess that's a good thing but maybe not for the summer!

1. I am thankful for my parents and how much they listen to me when I need venting time, advice or just to chat. They've been especially awesome recently.
2. I am thankful for Saturday night "New Country" on my local station. Any Annapolitans listen to 93.1? Shows how cool my summer is...blogging on Saturday nights
3. I am thankful (more like SO unbelievably, ridiculously, kiss-the-ground thankful) that my summer classes end this week! Thursday is my LAST DAY OF SCHOOL UNTIL I'M BACK AT USC! #4weeksofFreedom
4. I am thankful for a tall lady who came into the store on Sunday and mentioned CAbi clothing. Apparently the owner is rumored to be 6' tall! Tall girls gotta stick together! We gabbed about jeans, how we never hem stuff and how we're always dropping hems! She was so great. (Now all I have to do is find someone hosting a party!!)

5. I am thankful for my Jack Rogers. I just realized my Platinum pair toe part is ripping big time. Care of the above night, my Jacks were "flat-tire"-ed one night when we we all out. I had duct tape in my purse...yeah...and was able to repair them. I didn't realize though, was how stretched the toe became. If these little guys men make it through the summer I will be STUNNED. (Sorry to anyone who was sent this message--the original version--in picture message form from Sara's birthday...)
6. I am thankful for the BEST manicure I've ever had in my life that I got on Saturday. If anyone in Annapolis needs an acrylic manicure, go to Fiona at Bella Salon by the Annapolis Mall.
7. I am thankful for getting the power back in Annapolis. That was a mess!
8. I am thankful for all the quotes I find on Pinterest. The one at the top of the post is from Pinterest. It's chock-full of bit of wisdom put to wonderful typography. Very cool.
9. I am thankful for the couch in my room that serves as a wonderful place to store clothes. As my mom reads this she's going to cringe.
10. I am thankful for everything that's on it's way in the next few weeks. I think it'll be a lot more of the summer I had planned! I'm ready for freedom, ready for a break, and ready for Bethany Beach in a few days!!

Summer Saturday Playlist

Summer is gearing up and I haven't made a playlist in awhile! Saturday nights during the summer are prime time to do just about anything: sit and chat on the back deck, hang out by the pool, pop in a movie and snuggle, go out, eat a delish dinner, pick crabs, I could go on forever...in that case, here goes the playlist for the beginning of my summer!

To note: I've mostly been listening to "The Drifters" station on Pandora recently. That's my playlist BUT there's no good way to track do what I've been hearing on there. I find myself thumbs-up-ing everything!

(Miracles, see #3)

1. Oh, Tonight by the Josh Abbott Band: this is just a great all around song. Love it for driving, listening to while blogging and rockin' out to. Thanks to Miss Skyler for the heads up.
2. 1,000 Faces by Randy Montana: I heard this on the new country night on my local station. 93.1 WPOC plays a lot of new country and I love hearing it! This talks about the thousands of faces of love...so sweet. Check out the music video too!
3. Miracles by Norwegian Recycling: This is from the "What's In My iPod" list from @CollegeTownLife on twitter. They featured a Memorial Day Weekend playlist and this is by FAR my favorite song on that list! It mashes up 16 songs...I had to look it up!
4. I Want Brooklyn Back by White Panda: another mashup. White Panda has an unmistakable formula...and whatever they're doing, they're doing it right. Give this baby a download and you'll rock out to it for summer. I'll never get sick of that Jackson 5 tune...toss in Jay-Z and you've got a summer JAM right there!
5. Ain't Nothin' Bout You by Taylor Swift: I featured this Brooks and Dunn cover on my facebook page a little while ago. Still love it from that B&D tribute concert that was televised awhile back!
6. Love Owes Me One by Ronnie Dunn: On that note of Brooks and Dunn, this is my favorite Ronnie Dunn solo song. It's not officially out until June 7, so check it out here on YouTube
7. Dancin' Shaggin' on the Boulevard by Alabama: My friend have to tell me to stop shagging...it's becoming an issue. #sins I'm shagging in Maryland...I'll teach you...takers?
8. Somewhere Else by Toby Keith: I love this man. I love when this man puts out new songs. Downloaded? Immediately.
9. Dirt Road Anthem by Colt Ford and Brantley Gilbert: YES, THIS IS THE REAL ONE. "Jack and Jim were a few good men..." always reminds me of the quote from Coyote Ugly too.
10. When the Sun Goes Down in Georgia by Corey Smith: Corey somehow always makes the list. This has been a feature in the past, and I still love it. Always has a little spot in my heart!
11. Pretty Good at Drinkin' Beer by Billy Currington: Nothing says summer quite like this!
12. Rain is a Good Thing by Luke Bryan: Again, I never really get sick of this song. I was browsing my Summer 2010 playlist because the CD that was in my car bit the dust. I played it too much, almost everyday, gave it to too many people to copy, and ran that guy into the ground. Miraculously though, I didn't delete the playlist...what good foresight I had!
13. Shark in the Water by VV Brown: Nothing quite says "Degrassi the Boiling Point" like this song, and I probably heard it 8,000 times last summer but it's catching on again. My sister informed me I've been singing about 20% of the lyrics wrong, so it's almost like a new song, right?
14. On the Street Where You Live by Willie Nelson: You KNEW I was gonna bring out a classic. I can't help but smile when I hear this!
15.  Coastal by Kenny Chesney: Really this song is just a stand-in for every single single on Hemingway's Whiskey. Also how can you not LOVE a CD named "Hemingway's Whiskey". Basically I love all the songs and this one is just so happy and summery! Catch a marlin, catch a tan, catch a local cover band...

Tune-age

If I may toot my own horn just a little, I must say I've been on my game as far as making playlists goes. This spring has provided me with a lot of good playlist-making fuel and I've been relying on a few new and a few old songs. I've discovered a few from my classes (read: shag, which I've now nicknamed swag), my friends and just randomly hearing some when my iPod is on shuffle. Here are my recent picks:

1. Turning Home by David Nail: I posted this on facebook a few days ago, but I've been ROCKING out to it recently. Last summer, this song was all about getting me back to SC, but these days it's all about me heading back to Annapolis.

2. Mississippi by the Benjy Davis Project: The chorus says it all for me: "Oh, It always puts
a smile on my face and it's the  first time I've been back here since the last time that I came and I think you're really pretty and that's all I'm gonna say. Did you miss me? Did you miss me, Mississippi? Would you kiss me if I stayed?"

3. Crazy Beautiful Life by Ke$ha: This is just a fun crusin' song. Download this one, pop the windows down, and blare it down the main road of campus. Or just put it on your iPod...

4. Love in a College Town by Luke Bryan: Man, this song is about my life. I LOVE it.

5. Someone to Watch Over Me by Ella Fitzgerald: Little secret: I have a running list of the songs I want played at my wedding, this is one of them. I just love it and it's so sweet. She has the best voice for singing it and it makes me happy.

6. Something to Lose by Corey Smith: This song isn't anything super new, but I just love the lyrics and the meaning behind the song. CS, you are so great and I love your songs.

7. Honey Bee by Blake Shelton: I posted this on facebook yesterday and just love it!!!

8. Buzz Back by Chase Rice: Thanks to fave girl sCe for showing me this! So so so cute! She has the best taste in music. I owe her for a lot of these songs quite frankly.

9. Electric by DNC: Any Jersey Shore fans out there? This is one of their featured house songs...yep. It is so great. Just check it out and give it a chance and I promise you'll secretly enjoy it!

10. Whiskey and You by Darius Rucker: I've posted about this one before but it's definitely making a comeback on my iPod. It's a good one I promise.

What are you listening to these days? I can ALWAYS use music suggestions!

What I'm Thankful For

There is so much to be thankful for in my life. Here's just a small snippet of my list:

1. My little family (EKS this includes you too but you're not in any of our "traditional" fam photos):
2. My big family (with all of our new additions!):
3. The best readers anyone could ever have:
4. Two crazy roommates who put up with me (one of these things is not like the others...):
5. Big wins that make us one of the best schools to EVER ATTEND:
6. Country music that helps me fall asleep:
7. The best place to work in the world (plus sCe, Miss Skyler obvi):
8. BBM so my I can send HUGE texts to my sister telling her about my big-college-girl-problems:
9. Diet coke to get me through Accounting 225 and Philosophy 110...the banes of my existence:
10. And last but certainly not least a little obsession I call LBP.

10 Songs I'm Currently Jammin' Out To...

In no official order except as I see them in my iTunes:

1. Seven by Dave Matthews Band (Rock)
2. I Love You by The Benjy Davis Project (Rock)
3. In a Big Way by Darius Rucker (Country)
4. Whiskey and You by Darius Rucker (Country)
5. What's Wrong With Them by Lil Wayne & Nicki Minaj (Rap)
6. My Kinda Party by Jason Aldean (Country)
7. The Pretty Girl from Annapolis by the Avett Brothers (Rock)
8. Just by Being You by Steel Magnolia (Country)
9. Farmer's Daughter by Rodney Atkins (Country)
10. You're the Love I Wanna Be In by Jason Aldean (Country)

A few of these are rollovers from summer, but this is pretty much my hitlist. If I was ever to be on MTV, these would be the songs I'd show! I feel like there's a decent number of country, so maybe I'd be on CMT, but I'm a country convert since 7th grade. It's only been reinforced when I got to college, but I'm definitely a rap fan (as in I might be getting tickets to Usher/Trey Songz...jealous?) as well. This are the songs that are always playing when I'm crusin' to class and back for the most part. I'll do my 10 Most Listened to of all time in a post soon! Anyone else jammin' out to any of these too??
