Although I won't get to see the golden boy of country music while he's on spring break, I know many people who will be! As a gift to myself, I'm making a great Turks and Caicos Playlist for my own spring break, and more likely, spring semester:
It's rare that I enjoy a trending topic on Twitter. They're typically offensive, racist, or downright stupid and hardly ever worth contributing to. I did however, indulge in one a few days back that I realized, when put together into a list, looked a lot like a playlist!
#SongsThatGiveYouGoosebumps was trending and I got a kick out of that one! So I contributed. And kept contributing. Until I formed quite the mini-playlist!
Here is my list of Songs That Give You Goosebumps and few extras that didn't quite make it to Twitter:
1. "Dream a Little Dream of Me" by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong
2. "In the Still of the Night" by the Five Satins (can anyone name the movie that makes this famous in my book? I quote it often and it has an alliterative name!)
3. "L-O-V-E" by Nat King Cole (name that movie!)
4. "Big Green Tractor" by Jason Aldean
5. "Sandstorm" by Darude (a la Mean Girls, "I'm a Gamecock, duh.")
6. "I'll Be Seeing You" by Billie Holiday
7. "Whiskey and You" by Darius Rucker
8. "Someone to Watch Over Me" by Ella Fitzgerald
9. "You Are The Best Thing" by Ray Lamontagne
10. "Hey Daddy" by Usher
11. "That Summer" by Garth Brooks
12. "Dancing in the Moonlight" by Toploader (again, name this movie!)
13. "This Magic Moment" by Ben E. King
14. "Someone Else Callin' You Baby" by Luke Bryan
15. "Chasin' Whiskey" by Julie Roberts
16. "Stay With You" by John Legend
17. "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston (#PinchProbs)
Well y'all it's been awhile! I haven't posted a playlist in a million years! Crazy crazy!
I am LOVIN' this current playlist (it's officially been in the car for a day.)
I tweeted this picture two nights ago right after I made it. Clearly I'm rockin' a throwback by making a CD instead of an iPod playlist, but I cannot seem to find it for the life of me, so CD's will totally fit the bill!
1. Titanium by David Guetta feat. Sia
2. Paint Me a Birmingham by Tracy Lawrence
3. Everybody Talks by Neon Trees
4. Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know by Britney Spears (this is quite the Britney heavy CD!)
5. Someone Else Callin' You Baby by Luke Bryan
6. Calabria 2008 by ENUR
7. Turning Home by David Nail
8. Get Low by Waka Flocka Flame
9. Callin' Baton Rouge by Garth Brooks
10. Sometimes by Britney Spears
11. Here for a Good Time by George Strait
12. Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie and the Blowfish (to start getting ready for that concert in August!!!)
13. Where Them Girls At by David Guetta
14. Just Passin' Through by Jason Aldean
15. Crazy by Britney Spears
16. Can't Fight the Moonlight by LeAnn Rimes
17. Whine Up by Kat Deluna
18. Feels Just Like It Should by Pat Green
19. Booty Call by Ke$ha
20. Whiskey Girl by Toby Keith
For me a GOOD playlist combines old jams (both 90's and older), new songs, the usual favorites, pop, country, rap, and a mixture of everything else. I like top 40 with old school country, and all the songs have to be sing-at-the-top-of-you-lungs-able. This CD was made with cruisin' in mind, and it does a great job of that!
What are you favorite parts of a good CD or playlist? What's on your current playlist?
Yesterday was a big day for preppy blogger playlists! Funny how great minds think alike! I figured I'd interrupt my regularly scheduled post and add in my own so that y'all can hear what we're all listening too! Kinda fun right?
Here's what I've been listening to recently:
1. This is How We Do It by Montell Jordan: Recently inspired by "American Reunion" I've been rocking out to very much of that soundtrack and a ton of other 90's jams. And yes, jams is the only way to describe them.
2. She Doesn't Mind (Pitbull Remix) by Sean John: Rockin' out to this, windows down, music on almost full blare!
3. Brokenhearted by Karmin: This is SO UPBEAT you'd never guess the title was "Brokenhearted"! If I were a runner, this is DEFINITELY a song I'd want to run along with!
4. Somethin' 'Bout a Truck by Kip Moore: Y'all knew a country song was coming up. Obviously.
5. I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston: Too soon? Never. Rock on Whitney.
6. Unanswered Prayers by Garth Brooks: ALWAYS A GOOD SONG. It's one of those no-matter-when-it-comes-on-under-no-circumstances-will-I-hit-next kind of songs. Cue singing at the tippy top of my lungs no matter where I am.
7. Could've Been Friends by Corey Smith: This is a shoutout to my last two weeks of school and something I haven't done since first semester freshman year! SO GOOD!
8. Someone to Watch Over Me by Ella Fitzgerald: There's always one slow song in all my playlists!
9. It's Tricky by Run-DMC: Like I said, 90's jams.
10. Texas Was You by Jason Aldean: Something about this time of year and songs like this always seem to get me.
11. Turn all the Lights off by T-Pain: I can't get enough of T-Pain's new RevolveR track!
12. All My Friends Say by Luke Bryan: I have so many friends that are always on the lookout for me and my best interests, I always think of them when I hear this song!
13. Heart Attack by Trey Songz: Another good running one, but this is AWESOME.
14. Springsteen by Eric Church: Still on the fence about this song, but it's growing on me.
15. Good Girl by Carrie Underwood: I think I said this last time, but I feel like she's legitimately singing to me in this song!
This playlist is definitely one of my more mixed up ones, but that's kinda how spring goes. It's this weird mixture of moving on, getting ready for summer, exams tossed in there, formal season, work and internship projects, baseball games, Elvis cover band concerts, fashion shows, and other crazy stuff tossed in. So really, I think this playlist fits better than most!
Tonight is DANCE MARATHON AT USC!!! In honor of dancing for 24 hours, I'm making a playlist of GREAT dancing songs for y'all:
1. Copperhead Road by Steve Earler: There's a great line dance that my favorite country western bar does to this song! It's SO easy to learn and everyone knows the dance!
2. Hey! Baby by Bruce Channel: This is one of my favorite songs to shag to! It's got a fun beat and everyone recognizes it. We're even lucky at Gamecock football games when they play this and the whole stadium joins in!
3. Push It by Salt-n-Pepa: Now when you hear this song, don't you IMMEDIATELY think of the dancing scene in Something Borrowed?! I know I always do!!
4. Where Them Girls At by David Guetta, Nicki Minaj, and Flo Rida: Good beats, fun lyrics and totally a GIRLS song!
5. Country Girl (Shake It for Me) by Luke Bryan: I don't know anyone who wasn't groovin' to this song live at the Luke Bryan concert! Shake it we will!
6. Bennie and the Jets by Elton John: Another song that makes me thing of a dancing scene in a movie--27 Dresses this time!
7. Hold Back the Night by The Trammps: Again, another shagging song, but I also love the lyrics in this song. It was even the title of one of my facebook albums!
8. Super Bass by Nicki Minaj: I don't care what anyone says about this--it's a really fun dancing song! It's also a HUGE crowd pleaser!
9. Dancin' In the Moonlight by Toploader: I love this version from "A Walk to Remember" and this makes me want to snag a partner and shuffle around the dance floor!
10. The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra: This is my last movie dancing scene one! Taken from one of my favorite movies, My Best Friend's Wedding, I love this song for a sweet slow dance!
11. We R Who We R by Ke$ha: Really, any Ke$ha song is a great dancing song! Am I right?
12. Love Done Gone by Billy Currington: This tune has the IDEAL shagging beat and timing! I once heard it called "the happiest sounding sad song ever" on the radio! I shag a little just hearing it!
13. No Hands by Waka Flocka Flame: Anyone who hears this song, HAS to dance to it! ...with no hands!
14. Come Away with Me by Norah Jones: I know a few couples who have used this as their slow dance for their weddings. So sweet I can't get over it!
15. Why Don't We Just Dance by Josh Turner: The title says it all!
So I made my own adaptation of the Jay-Z and Kanye song just for the bowl game! I'm officially on my way by the time that y'all will be reading this!
Here's my Capital One Bowl Game Playlist:
(Warning: this is a pump-up playlist after all, beware of some lyrics!!)
1. My Time by Fabolous and Jeremih
2. My Kinda Party by Jason Aldean
3. Carolina by Eric Church
4. All I Do Is Win by DJ Khaled
5. On to the Next One by Jay-Z
6. "Ball So Hard" by Jay-Z and Kanye West (that's not the real name...)
7. Bang Bang Pow Pow by T-Pain featuring Lil' Wayne
8. Dixie Lullaby by Pat Green
9. Love in a College Town by Luke Bryan
10. Good Morning by Chamillionaire
11. Get Buck in Here by DJ Felli Fel
12. Rock Out With You Gamecock Out by Dinobrite Productions
13. You Be Killin' 'Em by Fabolous
14. If You Ain't Here to Party by Luke Bryan
15. This is Why I'm Hot by Mims
I'm not 100% sure if you'll be able to hear the Gamecock song or not, but check out the rest of the playlist here on Spotify! (Shout out to whoever suggested I start posting my playlists!!! Kudos!)
I first heard Lee Brice when I saw Luke Bryan in concert a few months ago! He was one of the opening acts and funny enough, is actually from a few towns over from Columbia! He's from Sumter, SC and even has a song called "Sumter County Friday Night"! So cool! Anyway, "A Woman Like You" is one of my new favorite songs! I couldn't believe it the other day when I saw a tweet from CMT talking about a video for this song. It's a cute video but I just LOVE the song--you must Google the lyrics, they are adorable! Anyway, give this song a quick listen and add it to your regular playlist for sure!
Well, it's that time of year again--the midpoint of the semester. This is where you realize that either you can take a little break in studying or you really need to ratchet it up for the rest of the semester. It's never really a good time, am I right? The midpoint of the semester alllllways seems the hardest and everything seems to pile on. At least that's how it's been for me every year of college since I've started. Anyway, to combat the Midpoint Blues, here's my playlist! It's a mix of all kinds of new stuff and fun stuff and as usual, some throwbacks!
1. Stronger by Britney Spears: This song was one of the first "Making the Video" episodes I ever saw--did you know she broke her foot making this video? She tripped on the chair!)
2. After Midnight by Matt Mason: Keep an eye out for him! He just signed a deal with CMT and was on tour with Luke Bryan. Very cool!
3. Won't Be Lonely Long by Josh Thompson: Again, saw him with Luke Bryan and this was definitely a crowd pleaser. My guess is you've heard this on country radio and just didn't know it was him!
4. Stereo Hearts by Gym Class Heros: This is TOO CATCHY! I love it! I listen to it on repeat in the shower and rock out!
5. Dirt Road Scholar by Dean Brody: He is my new music OBSESSION (besides Luke Bryan, because whenever I see any of his album covers I just smile and swoon). I have 7 of his songs that I downloaded at the same time and he's my new go to country guy. (Also, any Kappa Delta followers will like this one!)
6. Fly Me to the Moon by Grace Potter: She did a cover of this OLD SCHOOL tune for Pan-Am and I downloaded it, love it!
7. Runaround Sue by Dion: Biggest throwback of the bunch, but I've been putting this on repeat on a CD I have in my car. Holy moly this has gotten more plays than most!!! ....Gotta keep away from Runaround SUE!!
8. Don't Go Knocking On My Door by Britney Spears: Another choice from the "Oops I Did It Again" CD, but this one comes on right after Stronger. Yes, that means exactly what you're thinking: I still own the CD (my original) and still listen to it. My tweet above from a few days ago should explain it all.
9. In the Still of the Night by the Five Satins: I always think of Dirty Dancing when I hear this song but I just can't get enough!
10. This Old Heart of Mine by the Isley Brothers: Another old school one, but a lot of these are all on the same CD and this is another one that gets played a LOT! I just imagine it at a wedding and love it!
What are you current music choices? I need a few more to add to my library--I just recently cleared out some of my iPod and a few more songs will fit!!!
Ever since shag class, I've gotten really into old school dancing music. Whether it's beachy shagging music or jazzy slow dance music, I LOVE listening to it. I have a playlist on my iPod called dancing music that I just envision dancing to like in "My Best Friend's Wedding" (my favorite movie of all time):
Here's my slow dance and shagging playlist:
1. Sway by Michael Buble
2. L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole: Let's all envision the scene in "The Parent Trap" that opens the movie with Elizabeth's dress all flowy...
3. This Old Heart of Mine by The Isley Brothers
4. Wonderful Tonight by Michael Buble featuring Ivan Lins: part of this is in Italian...to die for!
5. The Twist by Chubby Checker
6. Summer Wind by Frank Sinatra
7. Dancin' in the Moonlight by Toploader
8. Baby You've Got What It Takes by Michael Buble
9. Runaround Sue by Dion
10. The Way You Look Tonight by Tony Bennett: In honor of the "My Best Friend's Wedding" scene. I know a few girls who have danced with their Daddyos to this song at their weddings and I get choked up just thinking about it.
11. For Once in My Life by Michael Buble: I'll take Scotty McCreary too for this one!
12. Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder
13. The Way You Look Tonight by Tony Bennett
14. It Will Stand by The Showmen
15. This Magic Moment by Ben King and the Drifters: this one is currently taking the cake for my entire playlist!
Today's the day! I'm off to South Carolina. While I'm extremely excited, I'm also very sad to be leaving my family, my house, my little bed, and the rest of my friends! I have an 8 hour drive, so tunes are VERY important. Here's what I'll be jamming out to on my way:
1. 501 by Sequoyah Prep School: These guys are ALL about South Carolina so they HAD to be on the list!
2. Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie and the Blowfish: Do I even need to explain?
3. In A Big Way by Darius Rucker: Nothing like a Gamecock to welcome you home! I LOVE this song and it always reminds me of driving!
4. Turning Home by David Nail: This song does double duty, I listen to it coming to Maryland AND going back to South Carolina...I'm so lucky to consider two great places home!
5. Use Your Love by Katy Perry: This song is my new jam! Apparently it's old school KP, but I'm all about it! Great for driving through these long states with all the windows down!
6. Summer Girls by Leighton Meester: I didn't like Country Strong at all, but the soundtrack was fun! This just reminds me of getting back to school!!
7. Love in a College Town by Luke Bryan: I'm headed back to MY college town and as y'all can see, I couldn't be happier!!! There are FEW songs that remind me more of school than than this one!!
8. Songs About Rain by Gary Allen: It rained all day long yesterday and rain is on the forecast for very much of today's trip. This song is NOT a happy one, but every playlist is a balance of the happy and sad, old and new, rap and country. Without a few sad songs, this playlist would stink.
9. Breakdown Here by Julie Roberts: This is a shoutout to my Annapolis homies: aBc and sEc! I'll be thinking of you two my entire trip!
10. Died in Your Arms Remix by Smitty: I sing this ENTIRE song when it comes on. HUGE fan and great for a different song in the middle of a roadtrip!
11. Bye Bye by Phil Vassar: Grace has gotten me back into this song AND PV, but this version is so much better than the Jo De Messina version. Did y'all know he wrote this?
12. Wave on Wave by Pat Green: This is on my all time favorite list of driving songs! It is PERFECT for cruisin'!
13. Love Done Gone by Billy Currington: This song makes me oh so excited to shag! With such a fun beat I love it. As the radio station said the other day, "It's the happiest sounding sad song ever!" I totally agree!
14. Never Gonna Leave This Bed by Maroon 5: I listened to this song on my way home and now it's on the list again! I had to bring a few back onto this list from the last list for sure.
15. American Girl by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Again, another great driving song and just an awesome throwback! It was easy to add this guy to the list. Plus, how great of a name is "The Heartbreakers" for a band...so great!
I'm off to Sweet SC, wish me luck!! By the time y'all will have read this, I'll have been on the road for almost a hour and a half!!
Me and Colleen (my lovely host up in Cape Cod) at Relay for Life, this is one of our FAVORITE pictures ever together!
So in preparation for all my travels this week, I've been busy cleaning (maybe), packing (sorta), and getting excited for VACATION! I have almost fully neglected myPod, but I'm working on a travel playlist!!
1. Vacation by the Go-Go's: Obvious pick, easy, fun vacation song!
2. Coastal by Kenny Chesney: Because y'all, I'm GOIN' COASTAL!
3. Sparks Fly by Taylor Swift: What's a good vacation with out T-Swift? Plus I'm loving the resurgence of her newest single!!
4. Loverboy by Billy Ocean: This one's for Ca-lean...she'll know why.
5. My Kinda Party by Jason Aldean: Vacation IS my kinda party. Riiiight?
6. Cheesburger in Paradise by Jimmy Buffet: Really, what's a vacation playlist without Jimmy? Come on!
7. Good Life by OneRepublic: Usually they sing such sad songs but this one is upbeat and lively and perfect for sitting on the beach or by the lake!
8. Bring 'Em Out by T.I.: I am, after all, going to watch some baseball games while I'm in the Cape and this is my ABSOLUTE favorite pregame-team-runs-into-playing-arena song. "Bring em' out, bring 'em out!"
9. Dancin' in the Moonlight by Toploader: I just love this song and it's on oh-so-many of my playlists! Certainly adding such a fun song to a jetsetting playlist!!
10. Hey Daddy by Usher: This is yet another song for me and Miss Colleen--our fave!
Any great songs for a trip? I'm up for suggestions!!
My summer music choices change every week. One week I'm really into rap, another week I'm into folk-y-rock, the next straight country-drinkin'-songs. That's why I make playlists so often! You should see all the lists in my iTunes, because, like Lilly, I love my jams too!
1. 501 by Sequoyah Prep School: This is South Carolina music at it's finest. These guys can rock some cool songs. I like this one because 501 is a highway throughout parts of South Carolina, North Carolina and even Virginia!
2. Written in the Stars by Tinie Tempah: I love the beginning/intro of this song! Gets me pumped when I'm driving in Little to school!
3. Brass Bed by Josh Gracin: Throwback for this guy! I've always been a big fan of this. The very wise sCe also RT'd @katespadeny's tweet of "when creating the perfect playlist, juxtapose old stuff with new."
4. Redneck Yacht Club by Craig Morgan: July = Prime redneck yacht clubbing time. Amiright?
5. Push It by Salt-n-Pepa: Ever since I saw "Something Borrowed" I've been listening to this! I can't help it after how cute the dance was!!
6. To Think I Used to Love You by Uncle Kracker: The title says it all...
7. See You When I See You by Jason Aldean: This CD is great. I've downloaded a few full CD's recently and I have only been happy that I got 3 of them. This CD, "My Kinda Party" for those of you living under a rock, has done ridiculously well! ..."We'll laugh about the old days and catch up on the new, I'll see you when I see you and I hope it's some day real soon..."
8. Ain't Nothin' Bout You by Taylor Swift: This is a cover of the ex-Brooks and Dunn duo that she sang at their farewell concert. I just about like this one more than the original...hmm almost...I do like how the beginning starts out mellow and then starts to ROCK with the electric guitar.
9. Where the Girls At? by David Guetta feat. Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj: SO stinkin' catchy! Aly, this might be my new "Who Dat Girl?"...muahahaha
10. Felt Good on My Lips by Tim McGraw: This isn't exactly current but it's not really old yet either. I've had a resurgence of this on my iPod these days though and I'm really liking it...again!
While this may be one of my most random lists, it speaks a lot to where the summer is. On it's good days this summer is busy, hot, a little overworked with a bit of a messy room. On it's bad days it's downtown Annapolis with no power...for an unknown reason! Yikes! What are you listening to these days?
An iPod is useless if your music isn't organized neatly into playlists. Without them you could be shuffling for days (or weeks for some of my musically inclined friends...) and hoping to hear the songs your JUST downloaded or want to listen to! I currently have 20 playlists (that might sound like a lot) that all have different flavors! I'm about to make my 21st FULL of perfect beach tunes. These songs have to have a lot: fun beats, summery lyrics, a warmth-inducing feel...they have a lot to live up to! Here are my picks for summer songs:
1. For Once in My Life by Scotty McCreary: LOVE HIM! This song has become my recent obsession! My sister played this once when we were driving in her car and now whenever I say "Play Scotty!" she knows exactly what song I'm talking about!
2. Love Done Gone by Billy Currington: So summery! This was in my last big download set from iTunes!
3. Here for a Good Time by George Strait: I heard this in "New Country" on the radio and my first thought was "THIS would make SUCH a fun shagging song!" I am loving the 89th single released by Mr. Strait. He sure does know what he's doing!
4. Kiss Me in the Dark by the Randy Rogers Band: I've been jammin' out to this song recently so it's made its way onto the list!
5. Come Back Song by Darius Rucker: I still stand by the notion that this CD is one of the best I've ever bought. I could come up with a playlist of all Darius songs...I may or may not have one called "Darius and Taylor" (Swift) for long car rides! It's a good one...Anyway, I had to add a classic to the list!
6. Only Wanna Be with You by Hootie and the Blowfish: On that note, I'm going to throw some Hootie into the mix. "I'm such a baby cause dolphins make me cry..." #summer
7. Good Ride Cowboy by Garth Brooks: Now y'all had to know I was gonna include Garth in here someway. Wouldn't this make a good Tush Push song? Yeah, Colleen that really has to happen...I miss shagging!
8. Stand by Me by Ben King: You can have a beach playlist without a beach song or two!
9. Erase Me by Kid Cudi: My list can't all be country. That's just not fair! I absolutely LOVE this Kid Cudi song. Blastin' it level 40 in Little has happened before.
10. Love in a College Town by Luke Bryan: Because I've been missin' MY COLLEGE TOWN like crazy recently. And y'all know I can't get enough of this song!
11. Coastal by Kenny Chesney: What says the beach better than this? I'm goin' COASTAL! His "Hemingway's Whiskey" CD is great! I've enjoyed every single that I've downloaded from it!
12. Where the Boat Leaves From by the Zac Brown Band: They're such a beachy band! Breezy, fun, light-hearted and aren't they just the words you want to describe your vacation? Yes, please!
13. Shark in the Water by V.V. Brown: I've featured this a lot on here, but this is so fun for the beach and by the water...however I hope it doesn't hold true for us...I'm more about Darius Rucker's dolphin idea.
14. Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen: beach + summer + off from work and school = GLORY DAYS!
15. Seven by Dave Matthews Band: "Red is the color of the sun with my eyes closed..."(Megan here's your shoutout! She's been the DMB influence in my life--got hooked on this song when we used to go to ESJ and SYB my freshman year! It was on the SYB cd!!)
Summer is gearing up and I haven't made a playlist in awhile! Saturday nights during the summer are prime time to do just about anything: sit and chat on the back deck, hang out by the pool, pop in a movie and snuggle, go out, eat a delish dinner, pick crabs, I could go on forever...in that case, here goes the playlist for the beginning of my summer!
To note: I've mostly been listening to "The Drifters" station on Pandora recently. That's my playlist BUT there's no good way to track do what I've been hearing on there. I find myself thumbs-up-ing everything!
(Miracles, see #3)
1. Oh, Tonight by the Josh Abbott Band: this is just a great all around song. Love it for driving, listening to while blogging and rockin' out to. Thanks to Miss Skyler for the heads up.
2. 1,000 Faces by Randy Montana: I heard this on the new country night on my local station. 93.1 WPOC plays a lot of new country and I love hearing it! This talks about the thousands of faces of love...so sweet. Check out the music video too!
3. Miracles by Norwegian Recycling: This is from the "What's In My iPod" list from @CollegeTownLife on twitter. They featured a Memorial Day Weekend playlist and this is by FAR my favorite song on that list! It mashes up 16 songs...I had to look it up!
4. I Want Brooklyn Back by White Panda: another mashup. White Panda has an unmistakable formula...and whatever they're doing, they're doing it right. Give this baby a download and you'll rock out to it for summer. I'll never get sick of that Jackson 5 tune...toss in Jay-Z and you've got a summer JAM right there!
5. Ain't Nothin' Bout You by Taylor Swift: I featured this Brooks and Dunn cover on my facebook page a little while ago. Still love it from that B&D tribute concert that was televised awhile back!
6. Love Owes Me One by Ronnie Dunn: On that note of Brooks and Dunn, this is my favorite Ronnie Dunn solo song. It's not officially out until June 7, so check it out here on YouTube.
7. Dancin' Shaggin' on the Boulevard by Alabama: My friend have to tell me to stop shagging...it's becoming an issue. #sins I'm shagging in Maryland...I'll teach you...takers?
8. Somewhere Else by Toby Keith: I love this man. I love when this man puts out new songs. Downloaded? Immediately.
9. Dirt Road Anthem by Colt Ford and Brantley Gilbert: YES, THIS IS THE REAL ONE. "Jack and Jim were a few good men..." always reminds me of the quote from Coyote Ugly too.
10. When the Sun Goes Down in Georgia by Corey Smith: Corey somehow always makes the list. This has been a feature in the past, and I still love it. Always has a little spot in my heart!
11. Pretty Good at Drinkin' Beer by Billy Currington: Nothing says summer quite like this!
12. Rain is a Good Thing by Luke Bryan: Again, I never really get sick of this song. I was browsing my Summer 2010 playlist because the CD that was in my car bit the dust. I played it too much, almost everyday, gave it to too many people to copy, and ran that guy into the ground. Miraculously though, I didn't delete the playlist...what good foresight I had!
13. Shark in the Water by VV Brown: Nothing quite says "Degrassi the Boiling Point" like this song, and I probably heard it 8,000 times last summer but it's catching on again. My sister informed me I've been singing about 20% of the lyrics wrong, so it's almost like a new song, right?
14. On the Street Where You Live by Willie Nelson: You KNEW I was gonna bring out a classic. I can't help but smile when I hear this!
15. Coastal by Kenny Chesney: Really this song is just a stand-in for every single single on Hemingway's Whiskey. Also how can you not LOVE a CD named "Hemingway's Whiskey". Basically I love all the songs and this one is just so happy and summery! Catch a marlin, catch a tan, catch a local cover band...
1. Knee Deep by Zac Brown Band feat. Jimmy Buffett: This is the PERFECT summer song! I can't wait to be home, in the Annapolis air rocking out to ZBB and Jimmy Buffett. I mean really, what says summer more than that combo?
2. Old Alabama by Brad Paisley feat. Alabama: This is one true Southern song. I can't seem to get enough! I gave Holly from Hey, Hey, Holly a shout out to this song and she'd already heard it! Figures--any of the SEC girls tend to hear songs about their state pretty early.
3. Country Girl by Luke Bryan: I'm a HUGE LB fan so this was a natural progression!
4. Dancin' in the Moonlight by King Harvest: An oldie but a goodie. This was one of my mom's favorites in college and I think it was passed down to me that way. It's pretty much one of those feel-good-college-songs-that-everyone-always-knows-the-words-to-wherever-you-are. I'm a big fan of those.
5. Callin' Baton Rouge by Garth Brooks: CBR. Always a classic. This is for you Skyler! You ARE Samantha...
6. Boys in the Summer by Jessie James: Mmmhmm..."Boys look so much hotter in the summer"...
7. Something to Lose by Corey Smith: This song is on here for a whole lotta reasons. Mainly this is one of my favorite Corey Smith songs. I love him!
8. Where the Boat Leaves from by Zac Brown Band: I have a big feeling that it's going to be quite teh ZBB summer for me...
9. Barefoot Bluejean Night by Jake Owen: Love this song--you need to check it out soon! I can't wait to see the video when it debuts!
10. Your Body is a Wonderland by John Mayer: Bringin' this one back! I love the live version of this on Pandora!
11. Big Green Tractor by Jason Aldean: I've probably posted this song in my different playlists 5 or more times. It never gets old for me! It's consistently in the top 3 most listened to songs on my iTunes
12. Last Night Again by Steel Magnolia: This is such a good college song...a little reminiscent of "Out Last Night" by Kenny Chesney.
13. That Summer by Garth Brooks: It's clear that this playlist is mostly a getting ready for summer/I'm only calling it spring because it's a technicality playlist!!
14. Crazy Beautiful Life by Ke$ha: Just featured this one recently but it's so fun! You won't be able to get enough!
15. Like OMG, Baby by DJ Earworm: This is one of the lesser known songs by DJ Earworm but I'm a HUGE fan of this one. More than any of his United States of Pop versions!!
In no official order except as I see them in my iTunes:
1. Seven by Dave Matthews Band (Rock)
2. I Love You by The Benjy Davis Project (Rock)
3. In a Big Way by Darius Rucker (Country)
4. Whiskey and You by Darius Rucker (Country)
5. What's Wrong With Them by Lil Wayne & Nicki Minaj (Rap)
6. My Kinda Party by Jason Aldean (Country)
7. The Pretty Girl from Annapolis by the Avett Brothers (Rock)
8. Just by Being You by Steel Magnolia (Country)
9. Farmer's Daughter by Rodney Atkins (Country)
10. You're the Love I Wanna Be In by Jason Aldean (Country)
A few of these are rollovers from summer, but this is pretty much my hitlist. If I was ever to be on MTV, these would be the songs I'd show! I feel like there's a decent number of country, so maybe I'd be on CMT, but I'm a country convert since 7th grade. It's only been reinforced when I got to college, but I'm definitely a rap fan (as in I might be getting tickets to Usher/Trey Songz...jealous?) as well. This are the songs that are always playing when I'm crusin' to class and back for the most part. I'll do my 10 Most Listened to of all time in a post soon! Anyone else jammin' out to any of these too??
Adelaide over at Sweet, Sassy, Southern and Classy posted about Carrie Underwood's song Mama's Song a few days ago, and I had to share it with all of you. She warned it was a tear-jerker, but I was like "hmm, I'll be fine." Nope. Incorrect. I cried a lot. This song is so sweet, AND it's all about a wedding (but it seems like it could be about leaving for college too like Carrie herself says) so I was bound to lose it watching it. Check it out:
I downloaded it immediately and have listened to it so so so many times. It's so sweet! Thanks Adelaide for showing me, and I hope you all like it too--but you've been warned :)
Lovin' this new Darius CD! Can't wait to see him at the State Fair and I hope hope hope he plays some of these new songs (and some old ones too obviously...Don't Think I Don't Think About It is still in my top 25 most listened to). I'm a big Darius Rucker fan and that only got better when I found out he is a Gamecock at heart! I talk about him on each and every tour I give because of this building:
It's actually on the first Hootie CD and one of my last tour stops! So much fun and people seem to appreciate the trivia!
If you haven't downloaded this CD, go out and do it! I got the entire thing which is very rare for me to do with CDs nowadays but I like ALL the songs!
First and foremost, turn the volume up a few notches on your computer to enjoy to this clip from YouTube.
So my absolute favorite new co-worker Skyler had me listen to this song by Ray Lamontagne called "You Are The Best Thing". (Download it now.) It is an adorable song, and I wanted to share with you guys. We listened to this song quite a few times and the minute that I came home from work, I immediately downloaded this (Thanks a bundle Skyler!!)!! This song just puts a smile on my face and the tune is too much fun! Have any of you ever heard this? Anyone a big Ray Lamontagne fan? I'm loving me some Ray today!!
