It's FRIDAY!

I had to post this song today! I know there are some people out there who vehemently hate this song, but I'm a huge fan! To my favorite logic boys, I still laugh about class...to this day it brings a smile to my face! The Glee version of this song makes me so happy! Emma (how Glee is she?!) and I were cleaning the store one day after we had closed and we were JAMMIN' out to this song! It is so much fun for the weekend!

I've had one of the busiest weeks of the summer (not that there have be a whole lot...) and am looking at a very busy week ahead of me too full of working, tests and my very first Bayside Bride intern meeting! I can't wait--that's later today!

Any big plans this weekend? Glad you have an extra day?! (Jonathan, tell Patrick he can finally wear the white and seersucker and we won't be mad! How very un-LBP of him!) I surely can't believe that May is over!

Here's to lookin' at you June!

Weekly Gratitude

Highlight of the week: Corey Smith on Sunday

This week was JAM packed with work and even a little teeny bit of play. I didn't speak to my parents for a whopping 4 days (that never happens, we speak everyday.) but I still have a lot to be thankful for:

1. A friend of mine who agreed to help tutor me. Big time.
2. One of my professors who FINALLY changed a grade from last semester. Although it took awhile, I'm still oh-so-thankful that he did it.
3. My econ professor for pushing our test to the Thursday after spring break instead of the Tuesday. We were all thankful.
4. Our shag class for being moved into a room with better A/C. Nothing says hot quite like the bottom floor of our gym's lack of A/C rooms.
5. My frog. I sleep with a stuffed frog. He didn't make it to Aruba and it was weird. He makes sleeping in my bed (away from my little fam) better.
6. Allergy medicine. Enough said. #SCpollenseemsworsethananywhereelse
7. For Glee's "Loser Like Me". Again, enough said. Y'all rock.
8. For next week to hopefully not be as difficult as this week. I really hope it's easier.
9. For polarized sunglasses. You make seeing the world so much easier. Once you go polarized, you never go back.
10. For St. Pat's yesterday. Even though I didn't participate fully in the festivities, I still had an awesome time and got to see Corey Smith. For only $12. I'm lucky. He was awesome.

L. Erickson + Glee

The Silk Charmeuse Double Loop Headband is probably the  most famous design by L. Erickson. I got super excited when I saw Santana from Glee rocking her own L. Erickson design in the Valentine's episode!
She sported a pink L. Erickson double loop headband a few times throughout the episode!
Look at this snapshot of Santana sorta in the background in the top left side! Maybe she'll be our new resident Prep on Glee...step over Rachel Berry!

I'm a HUGE L. Erickson fan, as I've written about the headbands before! Anyone else spot anything fun during Glee?

I'm Ready for Glee!

After months of this Glee hiatus, I'm READY for it to come back!! This next episode titled "Super Bowl Episodes" sounds like quite the "Thriller"...that's right! They're doing Michael Jackson's "Thriller" song and I can't wait! Both Katie Couric and Gwyneth Paltrow will be in the episode as well!! Also Kurt's boyfriend and Coach Beiste will be returning! I'm ready to get through that Super Bowl game so I can see Glee! Such a Gleek, but who's with me!?!

Glee Goes Billy Joel (Hopefully)

So in last week's preview (I'm beginning to think Tuesdays on my blog should be completely devoted to Glee and Glee alone...thoughts?) I couldn't wait for this Tuesday! There were so many good songs featured in just the 1 minute teaser! To recap: Kurt's dad was laying in a hospital bed...yikes! Tonight's episode is called Grilled Cheesus and I'm thinking it's one of those things where you see the face of someone religious or important (Jesus and Elvis have both been spotted in food...) in some kind of food option. (PLOTSPOILER AHEAD) The songs for tonight are Papa Can You Hear Me?, Losing My Religion, I Want to Hold Your Hand, One of Us, I Look to You, Only the Good Die Young (most excited for that one...Mom I know you are too!), Bridge Over Troubled Waters (my Dad will be excited for this one), and then anouther to be announced song by Mercedes. If you Gleeks out there haven't seen the ultimate Wikipedia list of Glee songs...check it out. I'm not guaranteeing all these songs will be included, but they're on the short list!

Can't wait! Go Gleeks!

Britney and Brittany GLEE

This picture came out yesterday, but it got me SO EXCITED for Glee tonight!! The Brittany/Britney episode is finally on tonight!! I've heard about this since LAST season when Brittany became a little more famous for her hilarious one-liners ("Dolphins are just gay sharks.") and rockin' dance moves. I for one am a huge Brittany AND Britney fan so when I heard about the collab, I was pumped.

The featured songs are quite possibly some of my absolute Britney favorites: Baby One More Time (I still remember to this day buying her first CD-at Tower Records-after watching her dance in an all pink workout outfit on Regis and Kathy Lee when I was way younger), Stronger, I'm a Slave 4 U, Me Against the Music and Toxic. I would have LOVED to see Crazy and Oops I Did It Again and Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know, because they're all in my top Britney repertoire, but such is life. I'm still SO excited either way.

From all the Glee stalking reading I've been doing for this episode, I've found out the following (beware, these are all plot spoilers):
  • Brittany is somehow "connected" to Britney
  • John Stamos (UNCLE JESSE! My goodness this episode is like reliving my entire childhood!) makes an appearance
  • Uncle Jesse may or may not be involved with Emma (AHHH!!!)
  • It's New Direction's idea to perform the Britney showcase
I can't wait for tonight!! My favorite TV show + one of my favorite performers + the goofy uncle from one of my childhood favorite TV shows = BRILLIANCE!

Keep Calm and...

Where are my GLEEKS? Guess what comes on TONIGHT?!

Yes, that's right, Glee is back! Tonight Glee season two starts! I've heard SO many rumors about this season...like a Brittany and Britney Spears episode (SO EXCITED...I may or may not have stalked the list of songs for that and it's awesome.), Finn wants to be a Cheerio?, Becky (this isn't a spoiler, it's on the commercial) returns!, one Glee couple stays together while one breaks up, the episode's closing song is from a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, ALL very interesting! I cannot wait for Glee tonight!! I hope I don't get too much homework for tomorrow, but I know EXACTLY where I'll be watching FOX tonight!!

Anyone else?! Excited yet?! Hosting a viewing party?? Can't wait to hear!

Be sure to enter the giveaway for this week provided by The Posh Palm!! It ends Friday!!

Lilly Warehouse Sale Time and a (mini) Life Update

Hi all! I've been so busy this week already and it's only Tuesday! One of my closest friends from school and I are going on a MAJOR roadtrip (9+ hours!!) from my house to school at the end of the month so I've been doing all kinds of things in prep for that. She's flying down from Cincinnati where she's from and then to here and then we'll head from BWI to Columbia!! I cannot wait to see her and all the people who are still there for the summer!
Here we are at the big award ceremony for Ambassadors this year! How fab is she?!

On to more pressing business though, is the wonderful Lilly Sale this week!! I cannot wait to hear updates about how everyone's went on these very busy days!! My mom, sister, future Gamecock Emma, and her mom are all going on THURSDAY (if you're going that day shoot me an email, maybe we can meet up super fast if time permits!!) to the sale in KOP. Emma and her mom are Warehouse sale veterans so hopefully they'll know their way around much better than we will!

I am VERY excited to see what they have to offer us! I'm especially excited about all the random stuff that they might have too like the GWP stuff and items that we're cut for the season, but are there to look through!!

Anyone else going? Have you gotten any steals or goodies so far?? I'd love to know so fill me in!

xxKatie

PS: Anyone excited for REGIONALS TONIGHT ON GLEE?!? I SURE AM!!

"Don't Stop Believing..."

I am so very excited for the return of one of my favorite shows tomorrow! Glee is coming back and I am very excited for it! I was getting all caught up with the Glee stuff online today and found the Glee Player on Fox's website. Needless to say I watched all the clips and got even MORE pumped for the big return tomorrow. I remember when they said that it would be returning April 13th I could never wait that long, but just today the facebook event came up on my homepage reminding me that it was VERY SOON! I yelled at my roommate and I think she got a little pumped too! I have so much studying to do tonight for all my CPR certification tests tomorrow, so I won't be able to watch my favorite episodes (Mashups, Hairography, Sectionals...I could go on forever...) like I wanted but that's ok because I'm sure a few of them will be reruns on TV tomorrow! I know I post about Glee a lot, BUT I just wanted to remind everyone that the best show on TV is returning tomorrow and you should all RSVP to the facebook event as well to band together with all the other Gleeks out there!

Get My Friend on Glee!

Hi all! I've never petitioned blogworld to help me out in any kind of way, but this would be insanely cool if you could! My junior year of high school I took chorus with this girl named Maddie and now she's auditioning for Glee! She's a finalist on the local radio station in Washington DC and they recognized her as one of the top 25 submissions for the contest!! Check out her video here:

In order to vote for her, you have to go to the website: CLICK HERE! and vote for submission #17 Madeline Myers! How cool would it be to have someone that I know on TV? Congrats to Maddie for getting this far already and I can't wait to see what else is in store! I know I'm a major Gleek and now I might even know someone on the show itself! Please sign up with your email and then just say that you don't want any of the emails that they can add your email to. I'm just going to add the email address to my spam folder and keep voting! You can vote 1 time per day per email address that you enter, so keep voting! I this is an awesome project and that Maddie is great! Good luck Maddie!!

Calling all Gleeks!

I was scoping out some insider information about Glee, pretty much my favorite TV show on TV, and came upon this website. After poking around and seeing the slide show, I found this photo. Look at her skirt...might we remember someone else who owns that?

Circa the Busy Bee post I wrote in December, you might all remember that I DO! I wore this skirt to an unofficial alumni function that I organized during our Christmas break! I am SO SO SO excited to be matching a GLEE character! I let out a little victory yelp and my roommate looked at me like I was crazy for being excited about it haha!

There I am with two of my other very tall friends in the skirt. It is a teeny bit hard to see the bow since I don't wear it smack dab in the middle of my waist, but it is the same one! I do admit I'm a big-time Gleek, and this probably goes to prove that! Oh well!!

Birthday Wrap-Up

So I had a wonderful birthday with my family and we celebrated last night! I had a lot of fun being home with them for my big day and I'm glad that my break worked out this way! I got a bunch of fun stuff for the big 1-9 yesterday:

I had picked this out when we were roaming through our local Nordy's, except my Longchamp is the next size up--Medium. I now have this pretty new pristine one to go with my (kind of gross) khaki one!

A Murfee!! This was a surprise that I was extremely excited about! Just about everyone I work with has one of these babies, and so I was thrilled to open up this surprise!

Glee Volume 1: Road to Sectionals
YES I DID GET THIS! I had no idea it was even out on DVD and I am SO EXCITED. My roommate and I made a point of clearing our Wednesday night schedules to watch Glee, and now I've got all 13 episodes plus backstage footage, music videos, and Dance Boot Camp!! Score one for Katie!

I also got a fab sweater from J. Crew that I can't find online along with this amazing black necklace from J. Crew too. I saw it at one J. Crew and decided that $65 was too much to pay, and ended up having MAJOR buyer's remorse. Then as my mom and I were shopping, we ran into it for $30 with an extra 30% off! I couldn't pass it up--not to mention, it was the only one left in the store--that is meant to be if you ask me!

For the rest of the day I'll be packing up all my stuff (which seems to have doubled since I got home...) and saying my goodbyes and then departing promptly tomorrow morning with a friend who lives kinda close to where I live to drive back to school with. I'm partly excited to go back, but I'm partly sad because I always get a little misty when I go back to school (my mom could tell you about it). However, I'm coming back in a few weeks for my sister's school play and then I'll be back a few weeks after that for Spring break. I can't believe I'm even talking about spring break right now!!!

Top 10 of 2009!

It may be a little early for this post, but I don't know how much time I'll have within the next few days since I'm working a bunch! Here mine go:

Katie's Top 10 of 2009
In no particular order:

1.         Biggest Overall Moment of 2009: Going to college: In this year, I’ve managed to graduate high school, apply and choose a college, attend said college, and go through the up’s and down’s always associated with first semester. Plus, I can sit here and say that although the beginning may have been rough, I’m sticking around to be a proud Carolina Gamecock!

Internet Moment of 2009: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-94JhLEiN0. On many blog lists of the “Top ___ of 2009” people seem to always include a youtube video. This one takes the cake in my opinion. You know you’re doing something right when The Office copies your wedding.

3.          TV Moment of 2009: Debut of Glee: This show crushes my TV quota for the year. I don’t download TV shoes from iTunes ever, and yet, I found myself downloading “Sectionals” (the episode) in order that it might hold me over until next season. Sorry Degrassi, Glee is just too good—I’m sure my dad would never think I’d like a show more than Degrassi since it’s on literally 24/7 in my house if I’m home!

4.          School Moment of 2009: Becoming an Ambassador: At school I’m now one of the tour guides who work at the Visitor Center. It is a pretty big deal at USC and so I’m super proud. This organization has played a major role in my decision to stay at school.

5.          Most Type-A Moment of 2009: H4H trip: I singlehandedly organized and carried out a Habitat for Humanity trip to Cary, NC. I was so proud of the 20 other classmates that joined me on the trip. It has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done, and I would love to do one again. I can say on behalf of every member of the group that we had a great time and would go back in a heartbeat!

6.          Sports Moment of 2009: USC over Ole’ Miss: What a game it was! Ole’ Miss was ranked 4th when USC played and beat them. It was the highest ranked team that USC ever beat. (Meeting Eric Norwood in person takes a close second place as far as best sports moments go in 2009)

7.          Personal Moment of 2009: Au Natural: I’ve taken my hair from bleach blonde “highlighted” to basically my natural color. And as my aunt Jeanne said, “Welcome back to the club”. It feels good, I must say!

8.          Occupational Moment of 2009: Working at the Naval Academy: This summer I worked at the Naval Academy during the first few days of Plebe Summer and I couldn’t be more thankful. Aside from working for Lilly, this has been the best job I ever had. Those new plebes were some of the most anxious, nervous, apprehensive, excited people I’ve ever met, and I cannot wait to go back next summer to be a friendly, smiling face to try to make them a little happier and their day a little brighter!

9.           Family Moment of 2009: Getting to know my sister: During the two years my sister and I overlapped in high school, we really got to know one another. I am so thankful that we did because I realize that it’s getting tougher and tougher now that I’m in college. The first night that I came home for Thanksgiving break she sat in my room for 2 hours and we talked about everything. I’m so proud of her and I’m so happy that she’s my sister. (My mom’s probably awww-ing right now, but I needed a family moment of 2009!)

10      Funniest Moment of 2009: The infamous Skype video: My roommate Kathleen was skypeing with a mutual friend of ours silently while I just happened to be dancing—just like nobody’s watching—to “Sexy B---h” thinking she would expect it. Well the joke was on me when I turned around to see the friend and his roommate watching. And laughing. A lot. Needless to say I turned PURPLE, and the friend and I never addressed it. (Kathleen, I hope you enjoy being included in this.)

What were your top 2009 moments?! My 2009 was great, and I can't wait to see what the new year has to bring along with its arrival!

I Heart Glee

So, just like everyone else, I absolutely ADORE Glee. If you haven't seen it or heard about it, then you must live under a rock because every week the songs are in the top 10 on iTunes and everyone watches it AND loves it. And if I'm facebook friends with any blog friends, my status is "I LOVE GLEE".

I also happen to understand that everyone LOVES Emma! Not to mention that we were all so happy when Schue worked up the courage to end the season the way he did--I don't want to ruin anyone's opportunities of Hulu-ing the episode since that's usually the only opportunity I have to watch it. I'm writing this post at 10:34 on Wednesday night and I'm sure by the time I get around to publishing it, at least 6 other bloggers will have beat me to the point I hope I'm able to make. If you've been dutifully following the season, you know that Emma's wedding was tonight.

I am in love with her wedding dress. I am a sucker for weddings as well. My roommate can attest to how much we watch "Say Yes to the Dress" and how I cried during Khloe Kardashian's wedding on "Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami". As soon as the episode of Glee was over I headed on over to trusty old Google and checked out where this beauty was from. Knowing ALL of Emma's wardrobe is from J. Crew, my guess that her wedding dress was as well. Well, I and everyone else who made this assumption, was correct. Her dress is the Silk gazar Nanami gown. And she looked ADORABLE! I cannot get over a) how cute she is, b) how much I covet her wardrobe, c) how the episode ended, d) what's going to happen next season, e) and what se-----als will be like (I don't want to give anything away again).

Here's the beauty's back from J. Crew! Emma looked DIVINE in this. It was the most adorable moment in the VFW hall! Ahhhh I'll have to download this episode to KEEP for sure from iTunes! I hope everyone's as GleeFUL as I am!

xxKatie

P.S. Read my post below this too, because it shows how excited I am to be home. I was very excited also to post about Glee. Probably too excited actually. But that's ok. I just did 2 very excited posts in 1 night. Clearly I haven't blogged recently.
