Outfit of the Day: A Year in the Making

I know I've been blowing the blog up with OOTD posts, but I thought this was a funny coincidence. I looked back at my first polyvore set when I didn't really know what was going on...it just happened to be right around this time last year! Funnier than that, the weather was CLEARLY very different.

October 16, 2009:

Notice I was wearing a quilted coat...I wouldn't dream of breaking this out yet. It was humid in fall yet again...sweaty Tervis Tumbler humid. GROSS. Instead of jeans and my Lilly quilted coat, I wore this on the 27th:

Obviously the weather was very different. It was hot, I was really much too hot in a long sleeve white tee shirt. I couldn't believe the difference. They're still calling for 70's through the weekend, so the whole fall thing in October...yeah kinda out the window...I'm still keeping my fingers crossed though.

Lucky for me though I guess is how I should be viewing it. I don't really own winter clothes, but instead wear summery things with sweaters. I'm BIG on polos/button downs and cable knits. I have 10 different colored RL button downs...excessive. Do they all get worn...easily. I stick with what I like and I treat it well so I don't have to worry too too much. I may invest in a new pair of jeans this season if Victoria's Secret puts them on a good sale and I get a good email coupon...we'll see about that though. I type this as I lay out my outfit for tomorrow...a shirtdress and Target Miss Trish of Capri flat seahorse sandals...craziness!!

This is in My Top 5 Lilly Prints Ever

The Multi Jubliee Patch is quite possibly one of my favorite Lilly prints ever. On the Lilly website it says: This is the largest patch pattern we've ever done. The idea just popped into our heads after, well, after looking at a Lilly wrap skirt in 8" patch from 1968. The washed down fabric with soft, faded colors "sews" the whole Lilly spirit together.

It's actually the cover on my laptop still:
I haven't gotten sick of it at all I think because there are so many colors. I'm seeing more and more of this print pop up different places:
If you're a boy and wear a 36 or 42, or any size between 30-42 I have two places online that these shorts are available! Click the numbers to find them!

Saw these on eBay! I wish I knew someone who'd wear them, they're so much fun for any guy who's a 38R! They're also online here! I have a pair of Lilly pants from many years back (circa 8th grade...) that I still wear. It was the same year as Elefrance because that print's on my pants as well as Bon Bon!
If that doesn't say Carolina Cup, I don't know what does. Now I don't condone wearing the pants and Charles Blazer together, but what a piece this would be to have in your man's closet.

Don't you just love this print too! I wish I could get my hands on even more of it!!!

Perfect Weather

Today was just about as nice a day as I can ask for! It was sunny and bright and so comfortable. If you stood in the sun you got warmed up and it was so nice! Unfortunately, it seemed to be just about the only warmth I could find though. The nights here get pretty chilly and they're not turning the heat on in my dorm until Thanksgiving break. I have a feeling its going to be a chilly 3 weeks inside the room! I've had to lint roll my jeans a couple times a day after wrapping up in my cozy fleece blanket as I sit in my room. Everyone I talk to who has had their heat turned on, tells me that I should be happy since the USC heat seems to be "wet". I can only imagine that the heat will be a little muggy for the first few days. I remember at home when we first get the heat started it really smells like something is burning, yuck! Anyway, I will be very happy if the weather continues to be this nice if our dorm heat isn't turned on! I wore this today since it was so nice out (I'm really starting to LOVE polyvore if you couldn't tell):

If you all didn't notice in my curls photo, I do have highlighted hair and its beginning to grow out. I haven't colored it since I got to school, so I'm quite due for a color job. I'm a little nervous to try any hairstylists out down here just because I don't know anyone's reputations. The amazing girl I go to has a great rep in our hometown and we've told many people to go to her as many people told us to! My mom, sister and I all get our hair done by her and this will be the first time since I was 15 (literally from my 15th birthday) that I haven't gone to her to get my hair done. A friend of mine who came here from a rival school back home has done peoples' hair that I know and so I talked to her tonight and I'm gonna go to her! I figure I can try her "styling" out for all of about $10 and if it doesn't exactly work out, I can get it fixed at home for the regular price. I need some advice on home hair coloring if anyone has experience. I'm heading over to Target tomorrow with another friend to go on what we're calling a "Target date" and she's gonna go shopping with me! I'll probably pick up a kit or something tomorrow and have Jacey do my hair some weekday this week! I'll post before and after photos for sure!

Right now, I'm very guiltily watching Natalie Morales and Kate's interview from John and Kate Plus 8. She seems so sad. I do love Natalie Morales though, we're a Today Show family at home!

Hope everyone else is enjoying this fab weather!

Southern Songs

SO Gracie Beth at Preppy Southern Princess started this whole Southern Songs blog post, and I'm going to follow suit. I'm not a native Southerner, so my post my end up being a little different.

Sandstorm by Darude- This song is Carolina football (along with 2001, click the link to see what I mean. They play this song in the few seconds before the Carolina football team takes the field). Students chant for the football DJ to play Sandstorm. This video is the USC student section cheering at the Ole Miss game which is undoubtedly the most talked about Gamecock game this season.

Carolina Girls by General Johnson and The Chairman of the Board- I couldn't find this song for the longest time, but if people are shagging here, they are shagging to this song...Carolina Girls: Sweet Southern Pearls...Sweet Carolina Girls

Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie and the Blowfish- Hootie and his good old Blowfish graduated from the institution known as University of South Carolina. See the photos in the top right corner with the big columns and the teeny tiny one on the left in the middle? They're taken at Longstreet Theatre, which is ON campus. This is Hootie and the Blowfish's first album cover!

She's Country by Jason Aldean- No matter where you are, this song will get played and when he sings "She's a party all-nighter from South Carolina" every girl in the place will proudly be yelling these lyrics from the top of her lungs. I may be guilty for doing so at a tailgate or two!

Carolina by Corey Smith- (or any song by Corey Smith for that matter) The student paper here named Corey Smith as the "official musician of freshman" in their 50 Things I Learned my Freshman Year publication.

Hillbilly Deluxe by Brooks and Dunn- This song reminds me of when the state fair came to Columbia and all the times I see people riding in the beds of 4x4 trucks. I still don't know if its legal here or not!!

History in the Making by Darius Rucker- He (is or was) the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish, so he's another Gamecock! Darius was heard for the first time singing in the shower of his dorm (which no longer is standing from what I've heard)

Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond- This is another stadium song. Our band will play it and everyone will sing along. Try to hear 80,250 people sing such a goofy song is a blast. My mom always says that she and her friends sang this is college and now its one my college songs, too cool!

Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison- Generally any song that people know the majority of the lyrics to is a hit in college. This is such a good song especially for those girls who have Brown eyes! If this is every played, everyone sways back and forth and sings making it a fab time!

Ta-DA!

Well, after much thought, I decided to go with a name change! I agree with Meg (from...your blog is private, I'd love an invite!!) that I can always change it back, so here it goes! If I'm on your blogroll and my name doesn't change automatically, I'd really appreciate it if you could do a quick name swap! This week is also Homecoming week at USC and everyone is super busy! The Homecoming King candidate from my organization WON! It was huge! We have a real chance at winning the whole thing now. I worked super hard on the banner this weekend, over 16 hours! It will be judged soon and I can't wait to see the results! It looks great stacked up against the competition!

Now I've got to go study for 3 tests this week...yikes! Hope everyone has a great week and BEAT VANDY! Thanks for all the new name support!

Today's Outfit

So I've only polyvored once, so I figured I'd try again! Today's outfit was for chilly SC weather, but obviously not too cold! I was wearing my Lilly jeans, a green sweater from Old Navy (mine is long sleeved with a pink dragonfly where the edamame is), a white long sleeve t-shirt from J. Crew underneath, some fab leopard shoes from the one and only Target and my quilted Lilly coat which I adore! For accessories I went with the dailys of my Tiffany heart chain bracelet and Silver pearls, both were gifts from family! If this ends up being a good post more polyvores might continue!

In a "Private School" Bind

So fall has officially begun and I'm in a pickle. I've always been to private school and so we had uniforms. I haven't had to have a real, functionally fall wardrobe for my entire life. I'm extremely unsure about what to buy for fall. There are a few things that I'd like to buy:

1. Shirt dress (my #1):
Vineyard Vines:

or Lilly:
2. I know I'm going to need khakis. I have them from American Eagle that I wore to school last year but I desperately need to let the hem down. That won't fly in college.

3. Corduroy skirts. I have a pink vineyard vines one, but I'd like one in khaki and navy blue (or maybe black?). Polo + Cable Knit + tights = fall outfit. I'd love to wear that!

3. Sweaters. I have several cable knits and Lillys but I always feel like I could use more. I need a black cable knit and I've seen 2 from forever21 with adorable bows that I covet. One's like camel colored, LOVE IT!

4. Trench coat. There's a traditional one from Old Navy that I LOVE. I have a grey wool pea coat, a bright pink car coat, and a cream Lilly quilted jacket so I have those bases covered. For the really cold days, I have a black North Face fleece (like the rest of the world's population of college students) and a pink parka that I can zip it into.

6. Jeans. I don't need more jeans. I have 3 pairs alone here with me. I may throw in my 4th pair that are super worn out (from wear, not by design) as junky ones.

7. Comfortable flats. I have a few pairs of flats that I love but Nordstroms has 3 pairs that I really want, but obviously won't actually buy all of them (if any, because then again I am a cheap college student):
These are my favorite of the 3. Pearls on flats? It can't get much better!

I've wanted Tory Burch Revas for awhile, but at their price tag, I may have to wait until Christmas or when I start working again over break.

Adorable, fabulous with jeans! Love the patent leather!

8. Boots. I've narrowed it down to 2 pairs from piperlime. These are one of the only purchases I know I'm going to buy. I think its necessary to have a pair of boots to go under jeans, or with jeans tucked in that AREN'T Uggs:

These are the front runners. I love them!

These are my other choice. They're darker brown, but I love the croc at the top!

I need fall shopping help desperately. If there is something that I didn't list please let me know! In SC, it gets just about as cold as it does in MD/PA it just takes longer to get that cold. I really appreciate any input!!

Lilly Fall!

Hello! Sorry I've been completely MIA these days, but getting ready for school is positively taking over my life! Getting ready paired with working about 4 days a week has just taken up all my time!  Speaking of working however, Lilly fall (shipment #1) has hit stores! In 2 days we have sold 11 fall units! The stuff has only been out for 48 hours, but everyone seems to be reacting well! By far, the Sabine Shirt Dress is an early bestseller (sorry the photo is so big)!
Lilly also brought back last year's Blaney dress, which is simply adorable. With pockets and everything, it is a most-flattering dress for all shapes and sizes too. All the girls I work with have very different shapes, but many of them own a Blaney (or two or three...). One girl is even heading over to Scotland and she's named the Blaney as a staple in her to-be overseas wardrobe (best of luck aBc!) The Dale Knit top is this year's Britta top, very cute, very versatile and even comes in a (pricey) printed version! My boss has the Britta in every color it comes in--5--and loves it, the Dale surely won't disappoint

PS: get to your Michael's Craft store ASAP. In the front section they have this crazy 10/$10 section and this season it has a "Preppy Collection". I took advantage of it, buying stationary and other paper products for school like crazy! Photos to follow!
